Buying in Bulk Can Save You Money

Buying fresh food, frozen food, packaged foods, and canned food in bulk online can be a savings and a great convenience depending upon where you live. Often the items you would like to be able to buy in your supermarket aren't available there, and sometimes people live in remote locations that require a good bit of driving to get to the closest food market.

At this update on 9/14/11, I made an online food purchase...the items cost less than my supermarket, and since my order was over $25, the shipping was free.

With refrigerator trucks and freezer trucks available now, you don't have to worry about your foods arriving safely under normal conditions.

We'll talk a bit about the advantages of frozen over canned food, if any, and I'll show you foods that are easy to buy food online and have shipped to your home in bulk quantity.

Canned or Fresh/Frozen Fruits and Vegetables

While fresh vegetables and fruits are considered the best choice, convenience often wins out depending upon your lifestyle. What do you choose and why?

What's your choice, canned or frozen/fresh and why?

fresh and frozen are great much better than canned

Norma_Budden says:

I basically like the taste of fresh fruits and vegetables and, with frozen products - especially veggies - there is the added convenience of being able to purchase in bulk packaging. However, I do enjoy some canned products, too.

Thanks for adding the video about food safety after a power outage. It's important information that I think a lot of people are unaware of.

I never realized so many foods were available on line, especially at Amazon. What a convenience for new moms, senior citizens or the house-bound!

It's interesting; of course, with me living in northern Canada, it would be pointless to purchase such products from Amazon but your lens has given me a better idea of what foods go through when being prepared for freezing. I've often wondered about the procedures involved.
  • happynutritionist Mar 23, 2010 @ 8:59 am | delete
Yes, Norma, I enjoyed putting this together because it gave me the opportunity to learn more about food safety, and the history of frozen food...things I don't think about.
