It's boring, takes too long and costs you money!
If you've ever bought any kind of insurance online you'll understand what I mean. I'm amazed that insurance companies make any money, afterall we pay our premiums every month in exchange for a piece of paper that we hope we'll never have to use! Who would buy a product like that! And the web is supposed to make all this much easier but with thousands of websites all promising us a 10% discount, it can still be a royal pain in the neck. Unless of course, you know where to look and what to do to cut through the noise and expose the bargains. This lens is born out of frustration and empty pockets but I've managed to play insurers at their own game and regain some control over my insurance premiums. So read on and discover some of the tips and resources I've found that make buying insurance online easier and cheaper.
5 quick tips for cheap car insurance
- Reduce the risk with a higher excess - choosing a higher policy excess means you take on more of the insurance risk which will mean a lower premium.
- Reduce the risk with good security - fitting your car with a good immobiliser, alarm and even a tracker will cut the insurance risk and your premiums.
- Lower mileage = lower premiums - again this is about risk. The less miles you do the less chance of a crash. And be careful not to over estimate your annual mileage.
- Do you know a good driver? - adding a female driver over the age of thirty with a clean license and good driving record can actually reduce your premium. Get a quote and find out.
- Shop 'til it drops - shopping around rather than accepring your renewal premium can save you hundreds. Use a price comparison site to guage the cheapest providers then go to their websites to confirm the quotes and look for extra discounts.
Probably the only time in your life when insurance will make you smile.
You'll be waiting a long time for any insurer to quote you happy!
