The contingency plan
However theres a simple work around for this, Soup modification.
I've tried some variation on the recipe. Start with the same soup base, and I'll show what else to add.
First Get to know your cabbage
red cabbage, green cabbage and chinese cabbage Which one would you like?
The base soup
Also in this article.I'll show you variations instead of soup,Stir fry it with practically no oil at all with some delicious recipes I've collected. All this contingency plan is to enable the 7-days diet a reality and keep your sanity at the same time. That way you will lose about 2 kilos in that week.
Usually the results will show the week after that :)
Lets get started with the soup base which is for 1 serving.Unlike the other ones on the internet, we simplify so that this is the base and we can add up other variations later. Avoid processed food. Don't use tomato in a can. Real tomatoes add more texture.
2 onions, sliced
half a cabbage chopped
2 Tomato
1 bullion
salt and pepper to taste.
What vegetables can you use and what vegetables you can't use?
basically cauliflowers, bell peppers, Tomatoes and other green leafy vegetables are considered safe. A good rule of a thumb is just avoid starchy veggies. This means squash, pumpkin and especially potatoes are the absolute no-no.
Recipe 1: Tom Yum Cabbage soup

Do you like Thai food? then this is the soup for you. It's perfect because for starters we do have tomatoes in tom yum. All you need to add tom yum paste or knorr tom yum cube to the recipe. Add a stalk of lemon grass for a more authentic taste.
Put in more vegetables, the common ones that taste well with tom yum:
- cauliflower
- mushrooms
- brocolli
- bell peppers
Add 2-3 bird's eye pepper if you're adventurous.
Tips
- If you're really determined to lose some kilos, avoid tomyam paste as some of it contains oil as a preservative. Tomyam stock cubes are the best option
- If you're a fan of marmite, you can add it to the soup as it'll bring up the savoury taste.
- Pureed tomato can act as a soup thickener making it more delicious to eat
Recipe 2: Cabbage Pasta

Cut cabbage into strips and place it in boiling water till it's soft. An indicator would be the strips would change colour from light green to a brighter green. The duration is 5 - 10 minutes depending on whether you want it crunchy of or soft. Now this will replace your pasta.
Now don't be sad about having to replace your pasta.Believe me, this will go very nicely with pasta sauce.
Tips
- Use the freshest cabbage to replace the pasta strips. In my experience it's sweeter and more pleasant to eat rather than a few days old kept in the refrigerator kind.
- How to recognize whether its fresh or old? Basically they are rather chewier, It has that a little spongy feeling when you try to cut it.Fresh cabbage believe it or not should make a crisp sound when you're chopping it up.

For the pasta sauce, add zuchinni, tomatoes or any vegetables to your favourite sauce. Do take care since most of these sauce still contain a lot of sugar. I use prego but if you can find low calorie sauce even better.
Recipe 3: Cabbage curry

This recipe is delicious. If you love curry you 'll never get tired of it because you can make many variations of this curry. A reminder, we're not using the base soup for this recipe! Use the recipe here.

Half a packet curry powder
Half a cabbage
cauliflower
tomatoes
3 garlic sliced,
1 onion chopped
2 star anise
1 cinnamon stick

When the onion is soft, add water to curry powder and stir into the onion mixture. Place the vegetables and cover it with a glass of water. Let the gravy reduce and the vegetables soft before serving.
Some tips
Use Curry powder. Try and avoid curry paste since the usually use oil as the preservative. If you want it spicier add chili powder to the recipe.
Cauliflowers and cabbages are great as they absorb most of the curry flavors. But do try these vegetables too. They taste great with curry.
- Tomatoes
- Brinjal
- Ladies fingers
- Brocolli
- Baby corn
Another tip is to add cauliflower that has been boiled and blend in the food processor. This will make the curry more creamy and yummy.
