Pigeon Forge is an incredible place to vacation. The weather is great and there are lots of things to do. It is home to Dollywood (Dolly Parton's theme park), you can go river rafting, take a ride on the Three Rivers Rambler, go tubing, or even play at Nascar Speedpark.

All these things and more are just a short trip from many of the cabins below. Pigeon Forge is about 45 minutes from the Knoxville airport.

Size it Right
Just as you would choose a home that was the right size for your family, make sure you do the same for the cabin you stay in. Think carefully about the number of bedrooms/beds you are going to need. (So everyone is comfortable!) And, the number of bathrooms.

Also, make sure the room sizes suit the number of people you are going to have. This includes the general living areas, kitchens and bathrooms.

Insist on Essentials
For most people, the number of bedrooms is always on the top of the list. However, since you will be staying a couple of days (or more), make sure the 'essential' areas of the house suit your needs.

The kitchen needs to be be large enough to manage the meals for the people in your group. Dinnerware, counterspace, microwave, stove and refrigerator are just a few you should take note of. You also nee to make sure the bathrooms provide plenty of tub/shower room.

One thing you may overlook is the outside of the cabin. Pay attention to the views. (You are going to visiting the mountains ... might as well see them if you can.) If you plan on being outdoors a bit, make sure the deck has plenty of space and places to sit. Speaking of the deck, a BBQ grill never hurts.

You Need a Few Perks
Now that the essentials are taken care of, let's get to the stuff that make the stay just a little bit more pleasant.

Many cabins offer pool tables, hot tubs, oversized tubs and incredible decoration and furnishings. Keep in mind what you hope to get from your vacation. If it is just the two of you, a large tub or hot tub might be just the thing. If you are taking the family for a vacation, then perhaps more entertainment items might be in order.

Price isn't everything
We all have heard that you 'get what you pay for'. It is true in many things in life. Renting a cabin can be affordable, especially if you go at the right time of the year. Just make sure the price you are quoted matches up with the amenities, time of travel, size and location of the cabin.

BUT, don't be afraid to shop around to find that perfect vacation spot.

Many travelers fail to think about pets when getting information on cabin rentals. Since cabins are rented by individuals and management companies, there can be a number of different restrictions.

Make sure you inquire with the owner/company about whether they allow pets or not.

Common Scenarios
Generally, you will find if pets are allowed there will be some sort of deposit. Typically, it is a flat fee, regardless of the length of time you will be staying.

There are many places where pets are not allowed at all. This can be for a variety of reasons, including being 'friendly' to persons with allergies, maintenance and protecting the owner's investment. Please make sure you ask if pets are allowed.
