Fast Track Emeregency Preparedness
Here are several tips to get you better prepared for emergencies and disasters
2. Keep a local and regional map in your car
3. Store important documents securely
4. Make note of two places to stay that are 50 miles away from home and set up three routes to each
5. Always think water and warmth when thinking about preparedness
6. Get an emergency weather radio for immediate notification of emergencies, including events that are not weather related
7. Give water a bit more thought
8. Store a bit of extra food, specialty food rations work great for storing in the trunk of your car (think hot/cold extremes)
9. Stop by cacheoutfitters.com and look into a family preparedness kit
10. Know your (toxic) neighbors, see justprepare.com for information on identifying local hazards
11. Register for CERT training in your area. The level of knowledge, commitment, and enthusiasm by good CERT instructors is amazing - take advantage og this.
12. Keep an emergency store of light weight food that is suitable for evacuation or shelter in place. Freeze dried food is a good choice for this as it's easy to store, has a long shelf life and is usually divided by meal/serving. Check out the 7 day emergency food kit that's available from Mountain House at Cache Outfitters.
