Giving Thanks - The Thanksgiving Cookoff

Each Thanksgiving and Christmas, the CAER Food Shelf packs up bags of food so that nearly 600 families will be able to celebrate the holiday meals with a feast of their very own.  The holidays can be a difficult time for struggling families so the food shelf does its best to remove the burden of financing meals.  With demand on the rise, it has been become increasingly difficult to meet the needs of clients.

Depending on the size of the family and product availability at the food shelf, these bags include either a turkey or ham, all the ingredients for green bean casserole, corn or another veggie, stuffing mix, potatoes with either a gravy mix or jar, dessert mix and more.  According to the Emergency Food Shelf Network, for every $15 collected, a family of 4 can be given the supplies to create a full Thanksgiving meal.

It has been a great blessing for CAER to be partnered with Squidoo.  Several lensmasters contribute all of their profits to the CAER Food Shelf and some of our CAER friends decided to write lenses for the fantastic Thanksgiving Cookoff For Charity.  The staff and clients of CAER are blessed to have such giving individuals.  Those of us that work with CAER want to share our special thanks with those lensmasters who wrote lenses for this specific contest and won money to help finance our holiday meal program and year-round mission. What a wonderful Thanksgiving gift you have all given to our charity!
