Colour of Costa Rica Coffee Beans

Coffee Beans in Burlap Sack, Costa Rica
As you can tell from this picture of costa rican coffee beans they do not start out dark and rich in colour. This comes with roasting them to bring out the oils and sugars. The longer the roast, the darker the colour and more carmelized the sugar.
Did you know that darker roasted coffees have less caffine then the lighter roasts?
Information on Cafe Britt's Dark Roast coffee
The dark roast is a strong coffee that has an amazing flavor. I don't know all the different flavors that others have used to describe it, all I know is it is a unique taste. The product description from amazon.com says "Product Description
Cafe Britt Dark Roast embodies the tradition of gourmet Costa Rican coffee. Aged red wine, figs and dried fruits mellow its robust aroma. Its full-bodied flavor of strong coffee and dark chocolate makes for an intense taste sensation. This classic blend takes its leave with distinction and elegance. Cafe Britt dark roast is 100% SHB (Strictly Hard Bean), all natural gourmet coffee, with the distinctive taste of Costa Rica's best. Kosher and fair trade certified. "
Anyone I have sold this type of coffee to throws out their Tim Hortons and Starbucks coffee and comes over just to purchase 2-3 bags. I have yet to find anyone who isn't 100% satisfied with this brand.
The darker the roast the sweeter and more chocolate like the flavor as the natural oils are brought out and the sugars have more time to "carmalize." There is less caffine in the darker roasts then the lighter roasts for those who want less caffine but not decaffinated.
The smell of this coffee is uncomparible. I've walked into starbucks just to enjoy the smell and this coffee is better. The aroma during brewing fills the house with the best smelling coffee imaginable.
Other's have reviewed it as having no bitterness and very smooth. Check out the reviews on Amazon for more information.
At $8.95 a bag you can't beat the price when comparing to other gourmet coffees. Once you try this coffee you will never buy anything else again.

impact of coffee on one's health. Medical experts noted that moderate daily
caffeine intake, about 300 to 400 mg or about three to four cups of coffee is
not harmful. Caffeine, the main ingredient in coffee, is a substance that is
predominant in coffee beans and it can also be found in some other sixty
plants species, among them are kola nuts, cocoa beans and tea leaves. It is
considered as diuretic, because it induces any coffee drinkers to produce
urine.
Moreover, according to studies, caffeine is commonly used for the treatment

Free Trade
Free trade is a type of trade policy that allows traders to act and transact without interference from government. According to the law of comparative advantage the policy permits trading partners mutual gains from trade of goods and services.
Under a free trade policy, prices are a reflection of true supply and demand, and are the sole determinant of resource allocation. Free trade differs from other forms of trade policy where the allocation of goods and services amongst trading countries are determined by artificial prices that do not reflect the true nature of supply and demand. These artificial prices are the result of protectionist trade policies, whereby governments intervene in the market through price adjustments and supply restrictions. Such government interventions generally increase the cost of goods and services to both consumers and producers.
Interventions include subsidies, taxes and tariffs, non-tariff barriers, such as regulatory legislation and quotas, and even inter-government managed trade agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) (contrary to their formal titles) and any governmental market intervention resulting in artificial prices that do not reflect the principles of supply and demand.
Most states conduct trade polices that are to a lesser or greater degree protectionist.http://www.export.gov/logistics/country_tariff_info.asp One ubiquitous protectionist policy employed by states comes in the form agricultural subsidies whereby countries attempt to protect their agricultural industries from outside competition by creating artificial low prices for their agricultural goods.http://www.wto.org/english/thewto_e/whatis_e/tif_e/org6_e.htm
Free trade agreements are a key element of customs unions and free trade areas. The details and differences of these agreements are covered in their respective articles.

Look at the colour of the bean on the coffee plant. It's rich reds, this is a far cry from the dark aromatic beans you find in the stores. This is because what you see is a cherry and the bean is actually it's pit or seed. The cherries must be hand picked at the precise time of ripening, too soon and it will lack sweetness; too late and the cherry will be sour.

Coffee
Coffee is a brewed beverage prepared from roasted seeds, commonly called coffee beans, of the coffee plant. They are seeds of "coffee cherries" that grow on trees in over 70 countries. Green coffee is one of the most traded commodities in the world, often described as being second only to crude oilhttps://www.dunkindonuts.com/aboutus/credentials/TreeCup.aspx although this often repeated "fact" is subject to more careful scrutiny.
Due to its caffeine content, coffee can have a stimulating effect in humans. Today, coffee is one of the most popular beverages worldwide.
It is thought that the energizing effect of the coffee bean plant was first recognized in Yemen in Arabia and the south west of Ethiopia, and the cultivation of coffee expanded in the Arab world.
The earliest credible evidence of coffee drinking appears in the middle of the fifteenth century, in the Sufi monasteries of the Yemen in southern Arabia. From the Muslim world, coffee spread to Italy, then to the rest of Europe, to Indonesia, and to the Americas.
Coffee berries, which contain the coffee bean, are produced by several species of small evergreen bush of the genus Coffea. The two most commonly grown species are Coffea canephora (also known as Coffea robusta) and Coffea arabica; less popular species are liberica, excelsa, stenophylla, mauritiana, racemosa. These are cultivated primarily in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Once ripe, coffee berries are picked, processed, and dried. The seeds are then roasted, undergoing several physical and chemical changes. They are roasted to varying degrees, depending on the desired flavour. They are then ground and brewed to create coffee. Coffee can be prepared and presented in a variety of ways.
Coffee has played an important role in many societies throughout history. In Africa and Yemen, it was used in religious ceremonies. As a result, the Ethiopian Church banned its secular consumption until the reign of Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia.Richard Pankhurst, Economic History of Ethiopia (Addis Ababa: Haile Selassie I University, 1968), p. 198 It was banned in Ottoman Turkey in the 17th century for political reasons, and was associated with rebellious political activities in Europe.
Coffee is an important export commodity. In 2004, coffee was the top agricultural export for 12 countries, and in 2005, it was the world's seventh-largest legal agricultural export by value. To retrieve export values: Select the "commodities/years" tab. Under "subject", select "Export value of primary commodity." Under "country," select "World." Under "commodity," hold down the shift key while selecting all commodities under the "single commodity" category. Select the desired year and click "show data." A list of all commodities and their export values will be displayed.
Some controversy is associated with coffee cultivation and its impact on the environment. Many studies have examined the relationship between coffee consumption and certain medical conditions; whether the overall effects of coffee are positive or negative has been widely disputed. However, more recently it was determined that the method of brewing coffee is important.Cornelis MC, El-Sohemy A. Coffee, caffeine, and coronary heart disease. Curr Opin Clin Nutr Metab Care. 2007 Nov;10(6):745-51.

Coffee Mugs
Master Roaster
Different Stages of Roasting:
In the first stage, the beans are placed in the roaster at a temperature above 400°F (204°C). The beans are rotated inside the drum to achieve a consistent roast. After approximately 7-8 minutes there will be a "POP!" sound and the beans are entering the second stage.
In the second stage, the process speeds up and the beans are checked every few seconds until they are the perfect color, size, surface texture and smokiness.
The Third Stage is to send the beans directly into a cooling chamber to stop the process.
The Fourth Stage is to move them into the cupping room to taste the coffee making sure it meets Cafe Britt's flavor profile.
Once approved, the coffee is immediately packaged to protect it from oxygen, sunlight and water, all of which can ruin the taste of the beans.

How to Brew the Best Cafe Britt Cup of Coffee
A drip brewer must be able to brew your coffee by heating the water to 195ºF and 205ºF. A high quality machine, that heats to this level, will make the difference to the coffee experience so check the manual.
What about a perculator? This method boils the coffee and sends water through the grounds repeatedly, breaking down crucial and delicate flavor components, leaving your coffee with a sour taste. I have experienced cafe britt coffee brewed in this manner and must say, it still tastes great in spite of the brewing method.
Follow these tips for a great cup!
The most important thing to do, to get the most out of the best coffee in the world, is to find a nice quiet corner with a comfy chair and a blanket. Wrap yourself tight and enjoy the smells and flavors a cup of cafe britt offers.

If it's bad for you, maybe we can make it good like enriching it with all the vitamins, minerals and more anti-oxidants like what I take. It's Arabica blended with the nutrients of nature. I buy it in the Philippines (feedurbody.blogspot.com). Anyway, I like the aroma of coffee. Maybe a cup a day is not bad at all.

- Yes, I love coffee. I love its aroma. It's soothing to my senses. My favorite brand is Liven. It's new in the market and it's available only in the Philippines (feedurbody.blogspot.com). The taste is simply Arabica. What makes it extraordinary is that it is enriched with vitamins and minerals (complete) plus more anti-oxidants from organic plants.
