It's All About the Habitat, Y'all
We love the outdoors. Whether it is the quiet pine forests or the sleepy Little Tchefuncte River of St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. We love every inch and every creature that inhabits this beautiful place that we are so fortunate to call home. We work tirelessly to keep it and the rest of our part of Louisiana, safe and healthy. We designated our property as a backyard wildlife habitat with the National Wildlife Federation back in 1998. We enjoy photographing the native flora and fauna of our habitat and CafePress and Zazzle have enabled us to share our photographs and art work with the world.

I Love Hummers

We love hummingbirds so we have created this unique design to celebrate these tiny flying jewels. The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is the most common hummingbird species in our habitat. Ruby-throated hummers breed here in spring and summer and most of them migrate south to Mexico in the fall, only to return the following spring, usually in early March.

I painted this in oils to show the beauty of our native species in a natural landscape. These male and female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are feeding on beautiful native Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis).

Robins spend the winter with us here in Louisiana and we got this great shot of one eating Yaupon (native holly) berries in our woods. During winter it is not uncommon to see large flocks of American Robins in the fields and the forests.
