Looking for an Alternative to Cafepress?

Cafepress recently made an announcement (note: this was written in 2009 so it's not new anymore. See Cafepress Marketplace and Shop Services for latest info) that shopkeepers will be making a flat 10% profit from their designs sold through the Cafepress marketplace starting June 1, 2009. Previously, designers could set their own markup on T-shirts and other goods with their design sold through Cafepress.

The announcement also mentioned a few other things like they are changing their prices and are going to try different pricing models. The bottom line to me is Cafepress will make more money and there will be less money for shopkeepers. They say some shopkeepers may make more since they might now show up sooner in the results. To me, that just sounds like they are trying to give an upside to something that is going to really suck for us shopkeepers!

Zazzle

Probably the most popular Cafepress alternative. You name the royalty still stands.

Zazzle - When I think of Cafepress alternatives, the first one I think of is Zazzle. It's pretty popular, and many here on Squidoo like it better than Cafepress. Zazzle still lets you name your royalty. I have one design on Zazzle and it's time to add some more. I just hope they don't decide to follow in the footsteps of Cafepress.

Skreened

If you don't like sweatshops, and made in the US sounds good, try out Skreened!

Skreened is a Cafepress alternative I just found out about. Skreened says it lets you set the commission, so I'm going to try it out! Plus, Skreened has ethical custom apparel. By that they mean made in the US, not in a sweatshop.

Spreadshirt

Spreadshirt- Spreadshirt actually has two URLs:
spreadshirt.net is their original European store.
spreadshirt.com is the US store.

Spreadshirt.com mentions you earn commission that you personally decide upon so it's worth a try.

Printfection

Printfection - another alternative that mentions you set your selling prices above their base price to make a profit.

Goodbye Cafepress, it's been nice knowing you!

This announcement has caused me to look for Cafepress alternatives because I don't like that they changed the pricing plan one bit. I have a feeling I will make dramatically less with the new model so I'm going to try out different Cafepress alternatives like Zazzle.

I think the saying "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" may be a good one to follow here since who knows what these companies are going to do... I want to put up designs on different sites so if one site goes to the dark side, I will still make some money.

    I have shops on Zazzle, Cafe Press and Spreadshirt. Without a doubt, Spreadshirt is my favorite out of the 3. The shirt quality is great (even for the "low end" shirts) and the flex printing is amazing. I can make a shirt and sell it for $11.99 and still make a modest $3 profit. It quickly adds up!     Sadly, none of those alternatives are any good to me. I'm trying to get calendars printed.

    There's another alternative but I keep it for myself, they are WAY WAY better than Zaazle or Cafepress but I keep it for myself.
