Cafepress Exodus

Ranked #35,158 in Business & Work, #494,422 overall

Thank you for participating in this multi-part poll for Cafepress shopkeepers.

I'm sure I don't need to recount to my fellow SKers what has happened recently within the Cafepress world. What I would like to do is to give us a place to see how this has affected us, and what we plan on doing about it. The poll questions are brief and should take very little of your time.

The poll is entirely unscientific, of course, so we're relying on the honor system here.

And please keep in mind that this lens is rated "G". If you're planning on contributing to the Table of Comments, keep it clean!

List of closed or closing Cafepress stores

Following a suggestion in the CP forums, we're compiling a list of people who are leaving Cafepress. If you HAVE closed your store or are planning to, please list it here.

(Please list stores here only. If you want to discuss something at length, there's a separate comment box at the bottom of this page.)

HammarArtStudio will probably be closing. I decided it was outrageously greedy of them to charge $59.95 a year just to show my designs and art and they made the profit, and I make a few nickels and dimes. I'd have to sell a lot at ten percent commission just to cover the yearly fee. Financially, it's not worth it and I feel exploited. I sent them an e-mail that since Zazzle is free no matter how many products are listed, they should be free, too. Sorry I ever gave them a chance. If I want a product, I can just order and design it as a private buyer.

I've deleted one store (LEFT_ObamaHQ) from CP and will eventually close the other two.

Actually Tina Fey said "I can see Russia from my house"
Sarah Palin said "As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state."

Tina's version is funnier.

You do realize that Tina Faye, NOT Sarah Palin said, "You can see Russia from my house", don't you?

It's a real shame what CafePress did to hardworking shopkeepers such as myself, who worked night and day on our products and stores. I have happily re-located elsewhere and am doing fine without CP. It's nice to be in a POD who respects us and pays us for what we're worth for a change. When I closed my CP shop, it was actually very much a relief to be done with the whole thing. Don't sell yourself short and let others pocket your profits, it just isn't worth it. Printfection, Skreened, Zazzle, etc all are infinitely better than sticking with a POD who only exploits its artists.
