-or a Capybara of your own (in photo)
The Capybara is a rodent that averages about 100 pounds as and adult and stands just under 2 feet tall.Capybara babies are born in the open, weighing about 3 pounds. They are fully furred and have their eyes open at birth. Shortly after birth they are able to follow their mother around and eat grass. However, they continue to nurse for about 4 months.
A social animal, the Capybara naturally live in herds of about 20 animals that are led by a dominant male. They are native to South America, east of the Andes mountains. They live in dense vegitation and will shelter from harm in water, hence they are very good swimmers. In English the capybara are sometimes called a water hog.
The Capybara eat vegitation, so they spend much of their day grazing.
