Hi There!

I'm Crazy Crissy, the one in the middle, welcome to Crazy Crissy's T-Shirts & Shyt. Check out my t-shirts and latest designs and visit my store.  The picture is of Michael from Arizona, me in the middle and Mike from Kansas at the Laughlin River Run in 2005.  Actually we were in Arizona, out riding when we took the pic.  I didn't take any pics this year.  Did a 24 hour trip this year, a drive thru!  But it was the ride, not the destination so didn't really care about not seeing much of the run.  It was a great ride.

You'll read some stuff about me and what I think and you'll see some of my designs here, be able to get to my shop and find other interesting things.  I won't show everything from my shop here as some of it is well.... biker nasty and raw.  You'll have to come to the shop to see those. I hope to get to know some of you and keep others of you entertained. If you have any questions send me an email at Crazy Crissy's Biker T-Shirts

Hey, since you're here, would you please give me a rating?  I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know if this lens is interesting and informative so I can make it what it needs to be!

Off the Back Seat and Onto My Own Motorcycle

It's only taken me 30 years to get back where I belong.... but I'm scared!

Not a new one but a used one and I don't have a lot of money! Sounds like that commercial with those three women going to lunch at Sizzlers. Anyway... I really like the Yamaha V*650 Custom. It feels comfortable, I can move it around, the size feels good and of course I can flat foot it. Who can't flat foot a V* 650?

I haven't ridden in 30 years so it's going to be like starting over I think. Yea, I'm that old! Yikes and a grandma too! Ok, don't start think little old lady with gray hair in a bun, that's not me ok!

I'm going to take the MSF course and hope it all comes back to me. If not, how many times can I take that course? I hope they have a "til you get it right" guarantee. I still like the back seat but want to be able to ride when I want to and not have to depend on someone else for a ride. You get that feeling and you just have to ride, not to anywhere... you just have to go.

I live in the So. CA high desert, near the mountains so theres lots of places for me to ride locally. And I'm not that far from Arizona and Nevada or even Utah. And lucky for me, we can ride almost year round here so I have a feeling I'm going to be putting a lot of miles on my butt. Wow, maybe I'll make it to Sturgis. Yea I know, need a bigger bike for that long ride!

I'm nervous though. It's been a lot of years. I should be out lifting weights and getting in shape. If I drop it I have to be able to pick it up, right! That would be so embarrassing. I've dropped my bike and I can't pick it up! Cars honking and here comes the police... oops. I'm also afraid I'm not going to get my balance or have the coordination to shift, brake and go or do curves or twisties. I do great on the backseat, it all comes naturally. I hope I can feel it like that when I'm at the wheel. And then there are cars, now that scares me if there's traffic. Cagers are the scariest people on the road when you're on a bike, well besides big rigs. So I have a lot to work on.

I'm really excited though in spite of all my fears. Like everything else that you fear, you just have to show yourself you can. Now, I just hope nobody makes fun of me for riding my V*650 wearing my Harley leather jacket and boots. It's a great leather jacket, nice an heavy. I guess I could get new boots!

Cool Vests

Have you got one or heard of them? They're very popular here in CA. You soak them in water, put them on and then put something not too heavy over them and ride. They keep you cool for several hours without soaking your clothes. When they start to dry out you just pop them in a baggie, dump in a bottle of water and soak them again. You can get them at Renegade Classics for $30. No, I don't get a commission! Just passing on a good product!

So, What's a Biker Anyway?

Damn the Stereotypes

It's a new day, year... decade. The bikers of days past, the bad boys, the trouble makers, the lawbreakers are the minority. Bikers today are working people. White collar, blue collar, brown collar! Homeowners, board members, cops, janitors, regular working people.

They aren't thieves, burglers, rapists, drug addicts, although most like their beer or bourbon but not all the time. Some may have a little bit of a bad boy attitude, but they aren't criminals. Most aren't out getting in bar room fights... some are. They ride Harleys, Yamaha's, Honda's and every other kind of bike. Some ride choppers, some ride cruisers, some ride bobbers and others ride bikes right off the showroom. Ya got your full dressers and your stripped down and customized.

Now you've got more ladies on bikes than any other time in history and some of them are on big "guy" bikes. You have school teachers, grandma's, moms, lawyers, clerks and every other kind of woman who works out there riding her own motorcycle. Biker babes, bitches, women who ride, lady riders, whatever you call them they ride and ride often. And that's the key to being a biker.

How often do you ride? As often as you can, to work, every weekend, evenings after work? Every freakin chance you get? Or are you one of them who got a Harley and parked it in the garage and only take it out once in a while, when you feel like it... when you're in the mood to show it off. Maybe you go 500 miles a year. You have a thin leather jacket, a fashionable one that looks good with your designer jeans. You got a fancy pair of boots, kind of like motorcycle boots and they say Harley on them but they're not scraped up at all. Yea you know what I'm talking about! The latter is not a biker. A biker is on their bike every chance they get. They may not be going anyplace in particular because they are right where they want to be. On that bike, face in the wind, riding.

Todays bikers are people just like everyone else. They work, own homes, pay taxes and obey the laws just like the rest of the good people in this country. The only difference is they have a love affair with riding thier motorcycles. The bad guys who are the minority of bikers who gave bikers a bad name, they're still out there. They are the 1%'ers. I have nothing against them, have some as friends and they're ok in my book. But don't judge us all by the actions of a few.

Why Isn't There a V Star 850 or 900?

Ok I do love the 650 and how it fits and everything. But this bike has to last me a long time and everyone I talk to that rides or has ridden a 650 tells me that they outgrow it and eventually want something bigger. Well I know theres no way I'm going for an 1100, that's just too much motorcycle for me to handle and its a bit out of my budget. So I'm looking at some other brands in the 800-900 range but I don't feel as comfortable on them as the 650 and it's not the size, it's the style and center of gravity and handling. The weight difference isn't that much of a problem but I'm just not as comfortable with them. Why doesn't Yamaha make a V Star 850 or 900 Custom? I think that would solve my problems... don't they care about me? LOL

I plan on doing some road trips, some long ones and need a bike big enough and comfortable enough for that. I know that a lot of 650 riders do them with mods to their bikes. I'm on a limited budget so a big cruiser with all the bells and whistles is out andyway, those are way too big for me. Decisions, desicions, decisions.

I just want to ride again...
