I love football more than any other sport.

I tend to follow football players more than I follow football teams. It all started a few years back(late 1990's!.. makes me feel old!) when I lived in Des Moines, Iowa. The wife and I moved into an apartment complex on Fleur Drive. While living there, one vehicle always stood out. A purple SUV ..a Blazer ..might have been a Bronco but memory says Blazer. Purple. With WARNER on the license plate. I found out it was Kurt Warner's, quarterback for the Iowa Barnstormers arena football team.

It turned out the that apartment complex/real estate company had part ownership in the Iowa Barnstormers team. During the season the complex allotted a number of apartments for the football players to stay in. The apartment complex was close to downtown Des Moines where the Barnstormers played at Vets Auditorium. It's pretty cool to look back and realize I was neighbors with a future league MVP as well as Super Bowl MVP. Kurt Warner is only one of six players to win both league MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same year.

I did bump into him once in the office.. the weight room was located on the lower floor in the apartment office building. Kurt was in there with another Barnstormer player chatting with the manager. I was introduced to both players while heading to the weight room to work out. It was the one and only time I met him and I was surprised as everyone else when he essentially came out of nowhere to go on to win the Super Bowl! When he was noticed in the NFL it got me thinking about living in the same apartment complex as him..and the purple vehicle! Ever since then I have followed his career. When Warner is playing good..he's very good, but bad days are BAD for him. I'll watch him play no matter what and wish him the best!

Other players I follow are Favre, the Manning brothers, Reggie Bush..and I'll keep an eye out for rookies that came from the Iowa or Iowa State colleges, even though I don't live in Iowa anymore, lol.
