My passion in life has always been world peace. There are many inter-related issues that either contribute or detract from world peace such as politics, religion, sex, and the stew of human relationships.

My politics are progressive, liberal, independent and strongly antiwar. I consider all wars a failure of humanity. My religion is "none" as I believe most of them serve only to divide us from each other with phony issues. I define myself as an Atheist because I don't believe in that blond-haired guy that is supposed to be the overlord of the world, but my spirituality is personal and nature based. I have never felt more whole than in nature and if that is god then so be it, as long as it is not blond and overly caucasian. I believe sex is a private matter between consenting adults and we'd all be better off if certain segments of society kept their prying eyes and noses out of our bedrooms and away from our bodies. And relationships are the engine of the universe. I love exploring all aspects of how they interweave and dance with each other.

My shop is devoted to these interests and if I have a motto it is that the world can be changed one t-shirt at a time if the cause is just.

As a t-shirt designer I've spent most of my career the last few years focusing on the message and not the shirt. This was okay when I designed for limited uses such as Spring Break, Mardi Gras, Halloween or other practically disposable events where the shirt was secondary to the celebration.

But once I began to design shirts that shared my passion for the environment, for social issues, for the equality and dignity of all living beings, then the use became equal with the purpose.

Create a little peace magic.

Sympathetic Magic uses objects such as fetishes or poppets to bring about a desired result. An example are Voodoo dolls, although I prefer a more positive and loving association with the dolls I create, while still retaining the otherworldly feel. This sense of rough creation in leaving the fabric unhemmed and the faces imperfect is intentional as perfection is not the goal here. The goal is to take an imperfect situation between people, neighborhoods, communities and even countries and try to heal it with an object that does not mock the imperfect state but makes itself equal to it. No healing of any kind can begin unless there is equal status between that needing healing and the healing object.

Arianna Huffington's News and other stuff blog: The trolls love this blog. They spend hours here leaving hit and run pot shots at those who threaten to upset their carefully created world view. Listen to them sputter and spew in all sorts of twisted, bizarre spellings of common English. Their very presence proves this is one of the finest sources of real news on the web, along with the occasional celebrity pap that seems almost obligatory these days. Are we shallow, or what?

But that said, wading through the trolls and celebrities is worth it for the refreshing perspectives on the news.
Raw Story: A great source for breaking and current new stories the mainstream media would prefer never see the light of day.
The Daily Kos: One of my favorite progressive community sites on the web. News stories are presented by many different people and often include obscure (on purpose) information dragged into the light of accountability by diligent and creative diarists. Tune in here for information and resources to help your favorite anti-war candidate take on the republican-lites currently infesting the so-called Democratic party. Change begins with small change donated where it can do the most good.
LIttle Shops of Dreams: This is a site I have with a couple of other witchy artists. We sell amulets, fetishes, and other objects to practice whatever form your personal craft takes. Good place to pick up a magic wand or something to ward off those evil vibes trying to get inside your home.
Crooks and Liars: I love this site because it provides instant accountability to those who claim they were misquoted when the polls show their spewing did not have the desired effect on their demographic sheep. Nothing like video to show up the liars for what they really are.
Crazy Old Lady of Peace: This is myspace where I preach peace and take on the religidiots who just don't get a simple truth: it was god who made me an Atheist, so how dare they question it!
Pebbles of Forgiveness: This is a site I made at the suggestion of a friend who told me that the reason religion is so popular is because it provides a means of getting forgiven for the bad and stupid things humans do. So I made a site that is one better than having to be humiliated by religion AND pay for the privilege. I skip the humiliation and just provide a space for people to buy their way to forgiveness.

The Waifs

When I went to Australia I was introduced to a musical group called "The Waifs." I now have most of their cd's and everyone who hears them falls in love with their unique sound and great musicianship.

What I love about "The Waifs" is not just their amazing voices and musicianship, but the poetry of their songs. They are able to capture the emotional impact of everything from love gone right and then bad, all the way to cross-dressing childhood friends showing up in a bar one night, without making it sound contrived or phony. There is sincerity, humor, passion, despair and the simple strength of recovering from life's wounds that heals me and will heal others as well.

My designs are inspired by events in the news, people I know, and sometimes by elaborate conversations that take place in my head with the creativity voices. They generally take the side of the underdog, the disenfranchised, the discriminated against, and the meek voices for peace that need an extra boost to be heard. I believe the world can be changed one t-shirt at a time if the message is a good one that includes all of humanity, and not just the select, elitish few.
