Who is Cairn Terrier

Ranked #6,054 in Pets & Animals, #149,489 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund, ASPCA

There is no dog in the world like a Cairn Terrier!

Without question, Cairn Terriers are both high maintainence and dogs to marvel at. They are fast, smiling, evasive, game players, manipulators, stubborn, passionate, and absolutely beautiful. They are the alter ego of the Westie, and they are really a special breed, close to the earth and to doggy instincts. They are a throwback to earlier times.

For many who have grown children or who have no children, a pet like a Cairn Terrier in some ways replaces the child. A Cairn Terrier or other feisty breeds interacts with the family much like a little person would. They know many commands and even words, and the only frustration is that they cannot comprehend full sentences!

Three reasons to love Cairn Terriers

Cairns are smart but stubborn.

Cairns are loving and caring.

Cairns have a personality that is special and can make you laugh.

Hi Ohme. Yes if you look at some westies they look just like Cairns. It has been said that they were taken out of the cairn breed, but I don't know. I just know that I saw a westie that was exactly like Zoe. Same size and same attitude. Many Westies have shorter ears but this one had big ears like most Cairns. Thanks. Gary

I agree! We have two Cairn Terriers and they are the best. They're very intuitive little dogs and are very loyal too. We get a lot of laughs out of our guys. Duncan does the same thing with his ball, when we ignore him (he never gets tired of playing fetch) he will roll the ball down the stairs and play with himself. :)

My cairn Zoe will play ball but under her rules. She will make me chase her to retrieve the ball, and only sometimes drop it. She will push it with her nose from the top of the stairs, but only if I ignore her. She knows exactly what she is doing but life is a game. She is wonderful.
