Why I like cake decorating.
I have just started to love to bake. My specialty which my family loves are my chocolate chip cookies. My husband and 3 kids all have requests for birthdays. For my daughters birthday party i made her an Ariel cake (cake actually shaped like Ariels head)she loved it. I wasn't sure how it would come out but it came out looking very good (with the help of my 2 sisters and my mom).
Cake decorating can be a long process. I no longer buy cookie, cake or brownie mixes. I have to bake my own. I am always looking for new recipes.
I recently took 2 Wilton Cake decorating classes. It is harder than it looks. I thought it will be easy but you learn hand positions, how to hold the bag and at what angle to make every different design. The most difficult problem I am having right now is finding an icing recipe that tastes good but one you can still decorate with. Your icing is a HUGE part of how you cake will look when decorated.
