The Cake has taken on new personalities ....
Once upon a time, cake meant a bread, possibly not even sweet. What a difference we have today! Confections have no limit but the imagination of the baker. And today, cake does not necessarily mean something you put in the oven.
Celebrations have grown to a tradition of having cake to commemorate the moment. Wedding cakes, birthday cakes, congratulations cakes, shower cakes--most are edible and incredible but some "recipes" are not found in any cookbook. Beyond the fondant icing and the sugar flowers and crazy shapes, are the creation of the, no less creative, diaper cakes and towel cakes and their variations on a theme.
We will bring to you, as we see something that "takes the cake" (sorry about the pun) in creative design, images and videos for your enjoyment as well as a peek at the opportunities this sweet talent may provide as a working business. You are welcome to join in and submit your fun finds, also.

Why do we LOVE the word Cake so much? What is a gift cake, really? Seems like whenever we run out of ordinary ideas for ordinary things to be more interesting, we just decide to create a tower of the practical and call it a "cake".Pile on those blankets and plush animals and socks and diapers---call them diaper cakes! Many a creative person has found a diaper cake business can be a work at home business even better than the home cake decorating business--no need to worry about the local health department regulations for kitchens!
Mound up towels and linens and we have a wedding towel cake. Put lotions and face cream and slippers wrapped in a towel and we have a spa cake. Roll dish towels and potholders and kitchen tools together and give the concoction at a bridal shower. Mom's day could be an event to create a gardening gift cake. Limited only to your imagination, this technique has become very popular for gift giving.
