Calcutta will always be The City of Joy
Calcutta was one of the most important cities during the Colonial period.
The British Empire changed the face of this young city, and ruled India for over four hundred years.
The British came to India in 1600 and started trade with India, under Trade Charter Policies, as The East India Company.
The British in India were responsible for creating a minority Indian community, called Anglo-Indians, who were the result of British soldiers marrying or having affairs with Indian women.
Anglo-Indians can still be found in India. A large number of Anglo-Indians have immigrated to countries like England, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
All Anglo-Indians grow up with English as their Mother-tongue,they have a British based culture, and they are all Christians.Anglo-Indians are an urban based community in India.
