Hank Moody the Hero of the Underdog

Famed novelist & NYC transplant Hank relocates to LA after his acclaimed book is optioned, but it later becomes a crappy romantic comedy, which sparks a horrible case of writer's block. He's struggling to get his career back on track with the help of his agent/best friend, raise his pre-teen daughter, all while pining for his ex-girlfriend, who is now engaged to another man. It may sound desperate, but he enjoys life and owns all his various vices — drink, drugs and women — with a refreshing sense of honesty and unapologetic candor. He's holding it together while falling apart, and he doesn't mind it one bit.

"I wanted to have you rooting for a guy you shouldn't be rooting for," Duchovny has said of his troubled, lovable writer character. "The guy who's drinking and falling into bed with women and sleeping all day is really the guy who's taking care of the family."

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

a dark comedy and drama series

An addictive series of real life love and issues. A well told tale of a group of people with a common link to an Author Hank Moody. He smokes, he drinks, does the occasional drugs and is a smart ass but at the same time his heart is always in the right place. An excellent cast of actors make this show a pleasure to watch weekly. It's on Showtime...I dare you to watch it.
