Tired of receiving calls from telemarketers about their "next big thing"? Trying to avoid answering the phone when bill collectors come calling? Many people feel the same way about answering their phones%u2026some have even resorted to turning off the ringer, unplugging it from the jack, or leaving the phone off the hook. This not only provides a temporary solution, but could also be detrimental if you needed to place an emergency call, or if someone was trying to contact you regarding a family member.

Instead of ignoring all your phone calls, you may want to seek the help of a call block to keep the unwanted ones away. These devices are easy to use, and can work as a call blocker in a couple different ways. You can have a blocked call list of 20 numbers. When these people call in, it will ring on their end, but you will hear nothing on your end. These people will not even know you are ignoring them%u2026they will just think you are not home or unavailable to answer the phone.

If you are getting a lot of unwanted calls, you may want to use a call blocker in a reverse method. Place phone numbers you want to receive calls from on a "safe list," and all other incoming calls will be blocked. This is probably the less popular method, because you could miss important calls in this way. Sometimes people call from pay phones or hospitals, and these calls would not reach you if you did not have the telephone number programmed.

With a call block, you can even choose to ignore numbers that shower up as "Restricted" or "Private" on a Caller ID. The call blocker recognizes this numbers as 000-000-0000, so adding this to your blocked list will enable you to ignore any unknown callers. This will help you avoid prank calls, as well as telemarketers who are trying to trick you into answering their call.

A call block is a great idea if you wish to put an end to harassing phone calls. We do have the "Do Not Call" registry, but that seems to be overlooked sometimes, especially if a business is insistent on trying to sell you something. With a call blocker, they will never have the chance to bother you again.
