Diego Rivera was Mexico's favorite painter. He was best known as a Mexican muralist. He was the common-law husband of another wonderful painter, Frida Kahlo, also known as Frida Rivera. I just watched Frida on TV last week. I highly recommend this movie. The lives of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera were very intriguing, chaotic and full of ups and downs, and the movie was compelling. Salma Hayek played "Frida" . I've highlighted Diego Rivera's work here because he made quite a few painting with Calla Lillies. "The calla lily, a sensual, sculptural flower - and quintessential example of Mexico's exuberant flora - was celebrated by Rivera many times, particularly in frescoes depicting peasants with indigenous features carrying bundles or offerings of them."
