I give this system full marks. The two best things about the system are the flyovers which are extremely helpful if you are unfamilar with a course, and the measurement system. It is invaluable to be able to pick any point on the hole and measure to that point.

I have now played about 8 rounds with my uPro and couldn't be happier with it. The video flyovers are really nice and seem to get mentioned in reviews a lot. However, the real images of the course with the distances updating based on your location are the real key and make it so much easier to get the distances you need. I was skeptical at first because I assumed that much of what they had on their website was simply for marketing purposes and that the courses would look much different on the actual uPro. I was also concerned about the number of courses available. However, the product really does what they say it does and my concerns about courses has not been a problem.

Beats every other golf GPS distance measuring unit on the market! Visuals you see of the hole are just like you see on a TV telecast. No little stick-figure drawings of the hole like on competitors units. Measuring how far you hit it or how far you have from where you are to a hazard or the hole is invaluable. Buy one, you'll see what I mean!

The first thing I noticed about the uPro Golf GPS when I unloaded it from the box was the convenient size of the unit. It easily fits in your pocket.

The display screen is more than adequate to see all you need to see. Even in direct sunlight it can be viewed fine.

The first time I used it I was able to compare the yardages side by side with a playing partners SkyCaddie and it was extremely accurate. At least they both matched within a couple of yards.

It only took a couple of seconds, after pulling it out of my pocket, to get the yardages to the hazards or the pin.

Another feature I like about the uPro Golf GPS is there is no yearly subscriptions to update your device. You simply pay for whatever course you are going to play and download it from their website. If you don't see the one you want you simply request it and they will map it and have it available within a week or less.

The only downside to this is the length of time it takes to download the course, typically around 5-10 mins. But when you consider the amount of data they have to transfer it is a small price to pay.

It provides video flyovers of the holes you are playing allowing you to see any hidden dangers if you are playing an unfamiliar course. Very helpful to me in a recent trip I took to Alabama. I got to play a few of the courses on the Robert Trent Jones trail. If any of you have had the opportunity to play these courses you know what I mean about "hidden dangers". Very helpful feature indeed.

It measures from any point on the course and constantly updates your yardage to the pin. You get the EXACT distance needed to fly a trap or water.

As if all that isn't enough, they also provide excellent customer service. I emailed back and forth with them several times and in some detail prior to even making the purchase to see how they addressed the issues and to test how they would deal with me...even when I wasn't a customer. Passed with flying colors.

The uPro Golf GPS is very well engineered and supported by a company (Callaway) that is continually updating and improving the software.

Make sure you use the devices calibration, they show you how in the owners manual or on their website.

Turn OFF the power saver unless you are playing more than one round between charges. It will allow the unit to re-establish linkup with the satellite faster.

Decrease the backlight to 10%. This alone will allow you to use it for 2 full rounds without a recharge.

This device has increased my confidence about where to hit and what club to hit with. That has translated into lower scores and a lower handicap for my game.

It will help your game too.

After you have received your Callaway Upro Golf GPS you will need to register it to be able to start downloading the courses you want to play.

The Upro works on a fee structure. You only pay for the courses you want, you don't have to pay for a yearly membership like most other golf GPS's.

After you register, you will be able to purchase and download the courses you request. You get 3 free credits with your Callaway Upro Golf GPS. That is enough for 1 course download. To get additional courses loaded on your Upro you have to purchase additional credits. Every 3 credits allows you to download 1 additional course.

You can search the database of thousands of courses by using the Course Finder feature on the website. Courses that are purchased are maintained on our servers so that you can download or update your courses from nearly any computer.

If you don't find a course that you want on the database you simply have to send an email requesting that the course be mapped and in about 7 to 10 days they will map it and have it available for download.

I used to use the laser range finders, they were ackward to operate and not as accurate. With the uPro Golf GPS by Callaway Golf all you have to do is press a button to get accurate and easy information about the yardages to hazards and pin locations. Believe me, you will never use those outdated range finders again after using the Upro.
