Lesson #1: There is a website (lamejortarjeta.com) do not, do not, do not, deal with them. Did I mention not to buy anything from them? On this site you will find a myriad of calling cards with incredible rates to the countries that you want to call. We tried some of these, we purchased the cards online and they emailed us the access information. There are all kinds of hidden fees (maintenance fees, connection fees, weekly fees, monthly fees, activation fees, inactivity fees, etc.). By the time you call a big chunk of your balance is used up. Now, we called the listed 1-800 access number on the card from our home phone, which has Sprint long distance, and used the balance of the cards purchased. I was shocked when I got my next phone bill for over $500! Apparently the network for the card was not working properly, Sprint automatically switched to their network with no warning whatsoever! We called the customer service listed on our calling card info, they wanted some other numbers that were listed on the card, I explained that this was an online purchase and I did not have the actual card, they refused to help without this info, I called dozens of times, always refused, treated rudely, and they would not let me speak to a supervisor. I was told that I had to contact lamejortarjeta.com. After repeated calls and emails, no resolution, they said that they were only a retailer and placed the blame back on the calling card service provder. They could not provide me with the needed numbers, a catch-22. I contacted Sprint, after much negotiation, they dropped most of the charges, but I still had to pay $125. Now part of that was the fault of Sprint, but the lack of support and attitude of lamejortarjeta.com and the calling card providers were unexcuseable. All of the calls were of very poor quality and we had constant lost connections.

Tel3advantage.com, also be careful because many affiliates promote this from their site that redirects to Tel3. We used their online calling card for a while. The rates are good, but the quality of the calls were HORRIBLE. Sometimes I would spend over an hour trying just to get a connection to Colombia using several different access numbers. When finally connected, I would get disconnected in the middle of conversations. Many times I could hear my wife but she could not hear me. I gave them several chances over a few months but always with the same poor results. Their customer service was prompt and helpful. They would give me $5 or $10 credits when I explained the situation, but this did no good. Credits are worth nothing if you cannot get connected easily and stay connected.
