Gr8 l3n5! Just kidding, nice job and I couldn't agree more about having basic. My cell company doesn't have contracts, instead they charge a flat rate for unlimited phn txt and internet. I don't want texting and internet and was told, "Well, don't use them."
  • Close2Art Nov 9, 2011 @ 10:45 am | delete
Great page, you make a good point about LOL, are they really laughing? Blessed...:)rob
  • agoofyidea Nov 5, 2011 @ 9:52 pm | delete
I don't text because I live in a bad cell phone area and usually forget to bring my cell phone with me. And I like it that way. Great lens.
  • aesta1 Oct 23, 2011 @ 9:04 am | delete
I have very limited use of my phone...I just have not gotten used to texting.
  • kiwinana71 Sep 12, 2011 @ 10:41 pm | delete
Love your lens. I do not have to worry about a cell phone or texting, because the area I live in has not got cell phone reception, they do not work in the hills, so I have no problems with texting. Thanks for sharing I know how you feel.
  • Harshitha Aug 30, 2011 @ 3:11 am | delete
I have just started with the text free life, and I am enjoying it. I was a texter and how! I would text notes and pages from the text books!
  • Positivevibestechnician Feb 24, 2011 @ 2:53 pm | delete
kids won't even answer their phones anymore the yjust text you back, how crazy is that
  • WindyWinters Feb 23, 2011 @ 4:05 am | delete
It's hard to keep up with technology. We have cell phones because we no longer have a home phone. I text between my adult children but use my cell like a regular phone. I don't agree with children having cell phones but that's another story. :)
  • JeremiahStanghini Jan 28, 2011 @ 7:00 pm | delete
I'll do you one better... I don't even have a cell phone!

    With Love and Gratitude,

    Jeremiah

LMAO! Just kidding, but I am laughing. Like you, I refused (for a long time) to join the text messaging craze. I really insist that it makes young people less literate by legitimizing their (already appalling) lack of grammar. For my peace of mind, my kids and niece were already finished with the English language basics before texting arrived.

Well, I do text, ocassionally, but not on my cell phone. Since I use Google voice as part of my telephone "strategy," I use it for texting, too. That way, it doesn't cost me anything. And I can use my full-size keyboard, instead of those itty-bitty numbers on the cell. Hold the fort, stick to your guns. I'm still LMAO! :)
  • ajgodinho Dec 5, 2010 @ 3:01 pm | delete
Texting has indeed become a huge problem today ~ I gave up my cell phone a while back, but I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay that way...we'll see. But I agree with you, I'm glad that our province has banned the use of cell phone while driving. Great job on this lens...LOL, that YouTube video got me cracking up! :)
  • tembrooke Dec 4, 2010 @ 3:32 pm | delete
I totally agree with you about texting! Blessed.
  • ClinicallySignificantProductions Dec 2, 2010 @ 12:18 pm | delete
    Great lens! Wait I meant:
    "OMG GR8 LNS
THNX 4 ALL the HRD WRK
    CU L8TR"

    ;)
  • CitiesChick Nov 29, 2010 @ 9:31 pm | delete
I am afraid to start texting :) Afraid I would forget how to speak properly! Fun lens!
  • Superwife Nov 29, 2010 @ 6:20 am | delete
I hear you! I have a love/hate relationship with texting. MUCH rather see the person I'm speaking to, or talk on the phone. Love this lens! :)
  • artyfax Nov 26, 2010 @ 12:10 pm | delete
Almost never text! Like you I want to hear a voice ; speaking over the phone is bad enough. I have made 3 or 4 texts whilst owning a mobile phone for 10 years. And I never use the evil shorthand, I type it all out properly.
  • javrsmith Nov 22, 2010 @ 2:18 pm | delete
I'll be texting in the future but I've resisted so far.
  • devilsworkshopcrafts Nov 21, 2010 @ 3:09 pm | delete
I wasn't a fan of texting until I realized my mom did it. Then I figured I should jump on the bandwagon. I love sending and receiving picture texts!
  • BuildingBlockToys Nov 21, 2010 @ 12:13 am | delete
You know what? I hate to text too! But that's just because I'm just plain lazy;) I'd rather just call up the person instead.
  • DesignedbyLisa Nov 20, 2010 @ 9:40 pm | delete
Great lens. I don't text either...barely even use my cell phone..
  • JaguarJulie Nov 18, 2010 @ 12:22 pm | delete
Ah, I do not text ... not sure exactly why aside from my fingers being too big to hit the right keys, not being able to find the special characters readily, not being able to see all the letters without a magnifying glass, and not having the time aside from all that Squidooing. ;)
  • JziE Nov 18, 2010 @ 12:39 am | delete
Oh and one more thing - just CALL HIM for God sake!!
  • JziE Nov 18, 2010 @ 12:38 am | delete
    somehow - I'm with U this time :)
  • WordCustard Nov 15, 2010 @ 2:05 pm | delete
I can see why teens are drawn to texts when they can create what feels like their own private language. But texting while driving is a definite no-no and spam is just no fun.
  • Nenkai Nov 14, 2010 @ 10:25 am | delete
I text constantly... to my teenagers and it's a nightmare! My left thumb got injured and doesn't work properly. I love love your point of view here.
  • Lorie Nov 13, 2010 @ 2:13 pm | delete
I don't text- my eyesight's too bad and I have wayyyyyyyy better things to do! Thanks for visiting my mermaid lens! Thumbs up'ed and faved you!
  • Senora_M Nov 11, 2010 @ 2:30 pm | delete
My husband doesn't text either. I sometimes wish he did!! :)
  • ICanCook Nov 10, 2010 @ 8:16 am | delete
Even with me being a technology person (I'm a software developer) I refuse to text too. Phone me or send me an email. I hate the phone's little keyboard.
  • sallemange Nov 10, 2010 @ 2:08 am | delete
OMG this lens is great LOL, I wsh I cud give up txtng too! GR8 lens btw.
  • Tipi Nov 7, 2010 @ 6:23 pm | delete
I am living text free too, I don't even have a cell phone, iphone, or anything like that, and I live every-well without the cost...and interruptions.
  • KM9999999 Nov 7, 2010 @ 5:39 pm | delete
I agree. I'm not a huge fan of texting either. I would much prefer to just talk on the phone.
  • jasmineann Nov 7, 2010 @ 8:52 am | delete
Well good for you ! I dont like texting either. Very good, very funny lens :)
  • SuperZoe Nov 1, 2010 @ 9:21 am | delete
Oh my goodness! This is a great lens. I watched that entire video and it was hilarious! Great job and for lack of better words.. LOL!
  • SheilaDeeth Oct 28, 2010 @ 1:26 pm | delete
I text my kids but mostly so I can get in touch without calling at a bad time. They call me back so then we talk. Well, except the one who texts "k" meaning "okay, yes, I agree with what you said and you can do what you suggested." Older brother says he thinks the phone company must be charging younger brother by the letter.
  • Lironah Oct 25, 2010 @ 11:30 am | delete
I don't text much (not conversationally, to be sure) but I chose a phone with a full keyboard so that I could work on various writing projects from anywhere. So I'm sort of in the same camp, but on the other side at the same time. Is that weird?
  • SmBizGuru Oct 22, 2010 @ 8:55 am | delete
This is a fun lens. I gave in...I text. In fact, my teenage kids where at youth group and one of the games the play was to interpret "textese"...and I gave them all the correct answers! I'm not a textaholic though - not while driving and I send less than 200 texts a month. I keep in touch with my kids through texting and a couple of friends who have teens who have also embraced the technology.

This was a great lens idea and I enjoyed watching the videos - especially the one about "can't stop laughing - LMAO"
  • KimGiancaterino Oct 21, 2010 @ 12:46 am | delete
It's good to know I'm not the only one who hates texting. You've illustrated your points with humor and style! GR8 job 4 sure!
  • howdoyouspellstupid Oct 19, 2010 @ 7:09 pm | delete
I don't have texting on my phone, just because it's too expensive and unnecessary. I feel like it would be fun to text, but it doesn't bother me that I can't. I can always call, e-mail, or chat with my friends. No problem!
Great lens. You make some really good points.
  • rachsue Oct 19, 2010 @ 5:09 pm | delete
I wish!! I have never in my life been so disrupted each and every day. I m not the one who texts it is everyone else. I like hearing a voice. I also do not like email much, too impersonal. Great Lens thank you for sharing
  • Pastiche Oct 12, 2010 @ 4:46 pm | delete
I only text when desperate ... my plan permits it but I have a basic phone and it's cumbersome. Much prefer email or talking on the darn thing - none of this done while I'm driving, mind you.
  • janices7 Oct 11, 2010 @ 10:16 am | delete
I'm with you on this one .... no texting for me. Loved the LOL videos.
  • karanta Oct 2, 2010 @ 6:39 pm | delete
Great lens :) I only use my cell-phone occasionally. So I don't text either.
  • Mickie_G Sep 25, 2010 @ 8:35 am | delete
Like you, I do not text. All my kids do, but my phone plan does not include it. My husband has an iPhone and texts the kids, but his plan includes texting. Still, I would rather talk to my kids.
  • BuckHawk Sep 10, 2010 @ 11:34 am | delete
My sentiments exactly! My fingers can never go fast enough and I have no interest in learning that code! But, Angel Blessed* and featured on Angelography.
  • poddys May 16, 2010 @ 4:29 am | delete
Good lens. I don't text either, because I don't see the need to when I can talk to someone, and if I can't talk to them I email from my computer to theirs. No need for another means of communication.
  • Wordwinder Apr 9, 2010 @ 7:25 am | delete
Not only do I agree with your observations, I love your writing style. Excellent lens.
  • pilegirl Feb 26, 2010 @ 7:42 pm | delete
Thank you for writing this lens! It needed to be said!
I've never had a cell phone, but I may need to get one as pay phones are becoming extinct. I once needed to call and say I was going to be late, and the only pay phone I could find was out of order. A kind stranger lent me her phone. I can't always rely on that happening. :)
And I always thought LOL stood for Little Old Lady. Five stars from me.
  • Jan 31, 2010 @ 8:28 pm | delete
Very informative I use to text more in the past, I guess I got bored with it.
Great lens. Rated it 5 stars.
  • puterfreak Jan 18, 2010 @ 6:15 am | delete
Awesome lens! I don't text either. My thumbs love me for it. :D
  • HappySeasons Jan 17, 2010 @ 8:11 pm | delete
Great lens! I only text when absolutely necessary. I much rather talk to someone than use electronic devices for communications... Matt :)
  • Brookelorren Jan 8, 2010 @ 12:51 pm | delete
I'm too cheap to text. I have a prepaid cell phone, which I only have to pay for when the minutes are about to expire (not get used up).
  • HorseAndPony Dec 7, 2009 @ 10:24 pm | delete
Great lens. We do not text.
  • Tiffany Nov 24, 2009 @ 4:08 pm | delete
    I am anti-texting to! Great lens. :)

Awesome! ...and I also REFUSE to text!
  • Pukeko Nov 16, 2009 @ 12:06 am | delete
Great lens. Good job taking an unpopular side and presenting such a strong case for it. Love the laughing video.
  • BigGirlBlue Nov 14, 2009 @ 12:37 pm | delete
This is one thing I haven't gotten into.
  • hlkljgk Nov 11, 2009 @ 8:04 pm | delete
i think the issue i have with texting is it's extreme portability - there is so little time to ourselves these days - why be connected 24/7? oh, and texting while driving - >:|
  • KarateKatGraphics Nov 11, 2009 @ 10:30 am | delete
    Wonderful lens! 5 big *
  • hayleylou Oct 6, 2009 @ 6:43 am | delete
Whilst I love texting - its a great time saver, I loved your lens too. 5 stars
  • mylifemychoice Oct 6, 2009 @ 1:56 am | delete
Well, as a mum who likes to know what her babies are up to , but does NOT want to be woken at two in the morning, I LOVE TEXT. My babies are grown but I text them everynight to say goodnight. My son is a shift worker now in the city. A text can be read at anytime, which for him, meant knowing I loved him even though I was asleep! ha ha ! I resisted texting for so long!!!! Now I am a convert! Calling is great and still preferred, but texting has it's place. PS I won't do Hieroglyphics, either. LOVE the LENS!
  • Caseyfern Sep 29, 2009 @ 9:14 pm | delete
Perfect! Thank you for expressing this sentiment so well, and welcome to Lensmaster Soup! I don't text - I don't even own a cellphone, and if I did, I have no idea what I'd do with it. However, I do keep my Instant Messenger application within easy reach on my desktop. At least I can't crash that!
