Basically stress can lead to changes in the midbrain in people, causing that area of the brain to "take over" at the expense of the more logical forebrain area.

That a big part of it, your particular brain make-up. Also, excessive use of alcohol or drugs like MDMA and marijuana can contribute to panic. Not getting any exercise or eating a crappy diet is also a big part of it.

You're body needs minerals like magnesium and vitamins like the B vitamins to manufacture neurotransmitters in your brain, if it can't produce them you get anxiety and also depression.

It can be a vicious cycle to say the least. Supplementation is a must for most people, along with a healthy diet. Whole foods.

Exercise, vigorous exercise is all essential. The blood flow to the brain from exercise is a literal panacea.

Kim- I am very sorry for your losses. I also know how you feel, with anxiety that is. I did not lose anyone close to me but over time it has gotten really bad. Sometimes it is very debilitating. Sometimes I feel like my legs are going to collapse. I will start sweating bad and my face will turn red. I don't know what causes it. I feel it's all in my head. I am 33 and have 3 wonderful boys and husband, so I have alot to be thankful for, yet it is getting worse by the day. Somedays my chest hurts so bad and I feel like I just want to stop thinking cause my brain is overloaded. I am on a search as well to find what will help me. I will pray for you and please don't feel alone.
