Why Count The Calories in Coffee

I became obsessed by the number of calories in coffee and everything else for that matter when I first needed to lose weight.

My doctor had told me that my cholesterol was too high. So I knew that I had to lose weight, but I didn't know how to do it.

As I drink many cups of coffee every day when I'm at work I decided to find out how many calories there are in a cup of coffee.

To put you out of your misery, the answer is as little as one calorie in an 8 fluid ounce cup of instant and up to 9 calories for a similar sized cup of filter coffee.

The calorie problems come when you start to add milk, sugar, cream and chocolate. Just look at this:

354 ml coffee, iced, tall, Starbucks = 4 calories

354 ml coffee, Mocha, white chocolate, skimmed, whip, tall, Starbucks = 344 calories

But losing weight is not simply a matter of cutting out a few of your daily intake of coffee calories. That will help a bit, but there is far more to it than giving up a few cups of coffee. Anyway, you don't need to give up coffee to lose weight.

When I decided to cut down on my calorie intake, drink less and eat more sensibly, I did lose weight initially. However, very soon I became hungry, temptation go the better of me and I quickly put the weight back on again.

The real battleground when it comes to losing weight is with yourself. What I found out was that I had to be able to control my own "urges" to eat whenever I felt hungry.

Dieting to lose weight is very hard. To succeed you have to really know yourself and how to control the cravings. You have to develop the strength of character and willpower to fight off temptation.

That is why the program with which I eventually succeeded in losing 20 pounds is in three parts. First you have to master yourself, then you need to know how much you need to lose, and finally you need a balanced program of how much you should eat and how much exercise you need to take.

I have set it up so that you can try the first part of this program free of charge. I will give you the 12 Personal Development videos I've made. These will help you understand yourself better, develop more will power and teach you to hypnotize yourself.

Frightening Number of Calories in Some Starbucks Coffees

When it comes to counting the calories in coffee you need to take a close look at some of Starbucks coffees.

At the low end of the range the 354 ml coffee, iced, tall, Starbucks with just 4 calories is not going to do the average dieter much harm.

But at the top of the calorie range the 354 ml Frappuccino, Mocha, With Whip & Syrup, Tall, Starbucks with 331 calories would prove disastrous to anyone's efforts to lose weight if too many were consumed in a day.

It is the coffees with all the extras, which no doubt swell Starbucks' coffers, that are such bad news for those who want a slimmer figure.

Each little extra that you add to your basic coffee adds a large number of calories. Sad but true that we can't put in the extra goodies without adding extra calories.

Taste comes with a heavy calorie price tag.

I succeeded in losing 20 pounds using a three part program. First you have to master yourself, then you need to know how much you need to lose, and finally you need a balanced program of how much you should eat and how much exercise you need to take.

Here's another tip: try changing the air. I found out that going 2 the mountain for example and just breathing the different air there helps a lot with burning calories. Some more info on eating properly if interested.
