Where Are You?
We are taught through life that you must 1. get an education (graduate) 2. get a job, make money 3. find someone special and get married and have kids 4. buy a house and settle down 5. raise and support that family the best that we know how. We know this because we are taught this from our parents ,who were taught that from there parents and so on.
Times change and we must learn to adapt to the world around us in order to keep moving forward, otherwise we get caught up in the same old routine (comfort zone). I am 38 almost 39, how can I teach my children to follow there dreams, be all they can be, if I don't show them something different, teach them it is ok to make mistakes and learn and grow from them, that is what makes us who we are. Never to be afraid!
I got my welding ticket in 2000, started my own portable welding business, started making ridiculous amounts of money, got married, bought a house,was supporting my family the best I knew how,life was great. It took me till about 4 years ago to realize, (after being on the road all the time and missing out on my children growing up) that money wasn't everything( but thats what I was taught.)There had to be more to life than this.
One year ago my beautiful wife Roben and I decided we needed to show our boys a different way of thinking and the only way to do that was to do something different(out of our comfort zone).
So here we are today, sold our acreage and just about everything that was on it. Dec.1 we headed out in our truck and trailer and are traveling the Southern United States (anywhere it is hot!!). Do we know where we are going? No. Do we know if this is going to work out? No. Do we have dreams and goals and are we going to achieve those dreams and goals? Hell Ya and Hell Ya. I am with my family every minute of the day, every day (minus our 18 year old right now, but we have a goal set for that too). I have never felt more free in my life!
Think about where you are today , where you want to be tomorrow, in a month, in a year, 10 years. Do you want to get up every morning go to work clock in, work 8-12 hours a day, clock out, trade your time for money, go home spend 4-6 hours a day with your family( thats not very much in my opinion), sleep the rest of the time and get up and do it all again!
Or is there another way? Hell Ya!!!!!
Life is full of choices, what are you going to choose?, how is your life going to be played out? Try stepping out of your comfort zone even for an hour and do something you have never done before or wanted to do but didn't. Don't put your life on hold!
Think about what you are teaching your kids, what do they see?
