The Works and Passion of Camille Claudel- Goddess Art
She was PASSIONATE about art and sculpting. Rodin no doubt felt threatened by her as an artist. She continued on to do what she loved though despite difficulties.
In later years she was put into an institution by her brother, with the full encouragement of her mother.. oh the betrayal. I think of her there.. no art, no clay under her fingers. Thinking of her dying there without art seems to be the cruelest thing imaginable to such a talent as Camille Claudel.
I have heard tale that she is the one who did a lot of his hands and feet on his sculptures. What could be harder than sculpting or drawing hands and feet right? Her talent excelled and as you will see as you review her work her talents gave her wings and she indeed flew on her own.
I actually have 'two' lenses on Camille Claudel the other one titled "Camille Claudel ll". Just can't get enough of her I guess!

More About Camille Claudel
Camille ClaudelFrench, 1864-1943
As a young woman, Camille Claudel was recognized for both her artistic talent and her physical beauty; nevertheless, she spent most of her adult life as a recluse. Much attention has been focused on Claudel's relationship with her teacher, mentor, and lover, Auguste Rodin. Her complex personal drama has brought her prominence through scholarly and popular accounts. Yet it was first and foremost her unrivaled ability to convey narrative through marble and bronze that attracted patrons and critical accolades.
Born in Fère-en-Tardenois, Aisne, Claudel moved with her family to Paris around 1881. She studied sculpture at the Académie Colarossi, one of the few art academies in France open to female students. Along with other sculptors, she also shared an independent studio where Alfred Boucher taught. In 1883 Boucher won a Prix de Rome and departed for Italy; he asked Rodin to serve as adviser to Claudel and her colleagues in his stead.
Two years later, Rodin asked Claudel to become a studio assistant. By working as Rodin's apprentice, Claudel had the chance to study the nude figure, an unusual opportunity for a woman in the 19th century, but one that gave the artist a profound understanding of anatomical nuances. Claudel modeled hands and feet for Rodin's Burghers of Calais and posed for figures in his Gates of Hell.
In 1893, because Rodin's work and stature occupied front stage in French culture, Claudel secluded herself in her studio to disassociate herself from him and to try to establish her own reputation. Her love for portraying the human form resulted in certain sculptures that the state and an infuriated press censored as overly sensual and inappropriate for public display. These circumstances may have contributed to the decline of her career and her mental state. In 1913 Claudel was committed to a mental asylum, where she remained until her death 30 years later.

"Mental Drawings of Demons Spinning Their Evil Ways Sometimes Bare Gifts of New Inventions"

Mental Drawings of Demons...
The back and forth of good and bad
the sifting of our errors
how and where do we find our revival
of clear intentions?
Mental drawings of demons of the heart
They make the wheels spin their evil ways
tragically.
Yet sometimes
despite the wounded closet
there is a lovely token.
The gift of understanding
magically bringing revelations
we had not recognized
before the sleeping princess.
Waking that beauty
no further breeding of dragons
occurs without clear planning.
Sometimes we conquer that dark side
spend time considering the view from top of the hill.
Watch sunsets
consider mythical monsters
and meet what might become bad decisions
head on
with an opposite approach
and our own fire-breathing tongues.
And then?
The wheel spins again
symbols of chaos within our hands
new inventions
new attractions toward depression
monsters in the closet
intimidating czar
despite the ones we conquered ore.
We are a fragile being
yet resilient.
Despite the temptations
the quest for new ideas
roar.
Despite the lust of new ideas
that might disable the heavens angles
we continue on
reveling in new inventions.
Do it... it's only just round the corner,
one new experience,
one new insight,
one new innovation,
one new discovery
designs created from what is possible.
Painting our lives
drawings of scorpions
biting their own tail
or disabling objectionable disabilities thereof.
There is room for safe breathing
we are safe within the IDEA
of creativity
meeting the ways of right
or wrong
fault or reason.
There within the birds that cover our eyes
we decipher
and meet our own glorious
newly uncovered
finds of delight.
We are not that many steps away
from tiny whimsical angels
that remind us of
real life and our own breathing.
There is safety in that call.

Sirènes - Camille Claudel
"From the Womb of God New Earth Does Form"
Here is a poem I wrote about rocks in essence .. new earth forming.
"From the Womb of God New Earth Does Form- Communicating With God and Art"
I feel it in the air
I sense it in the birds
and the trees that stand with grace.
Wild orchids flow
in honor of today.
I will carefully choose my treasure
and wear it in my hair.
Sweet scent of erotic pleasure
only flowers can bring.
Voices from volcanoes sing...
Ohh...
I hear it
I sense it.
New earth spits out a sound
it is the birthing of new land.
I stand
STILL
Listening.
Listening.
We will walk upon the land
carefully
reverently
praying for mercy
hoping it is within our grasp.
We will look out on the ocean
from a far
hold our hopes intact
as life forms.
Pele will forever guard this trail
weeping tears of coal.
Blended secrets
legends abound
jealous lover
melted on the skyline.
Sacred tales
only a Hawaiian knows
tied with ti leaves
rocks of grace
forever chanting
vibrations humming
dancing
and blessing their sacred sound.

"My Tiny Angel Has Gone Off Flying - Leaving Me With a Jealous Heart"

Every other angel
seems to get it right
every other tiny angel...
just not mine.
We'll have to have a word or two
once she stops dreaming.
As if she didn't know it
there are strings
attached to everything.
Just about everything
wears a coat.
Ward off the hunter
he comes to victimize
every loose end
except his own.
Alone
foolish to own that I'm fragile
even though my angels gone
a flying.
Mascara runs down weeping eyes
stupid eyes that cry
who simply don't understand
their tears
can be waterproofed
and defied.
Deep down
I've always loved empty cages
reminding me
of angels who capture sparks
and learn to fly off.
A pattern of flashes
once kept on leashes
released.
Wheels continue spinning
for the aimless
a primary defense of the queen's gambit
of trading off stars
that shine too much
lest she lose her stage.
So I sift through moments
of unrehearsed lines
I'd never hold her to them anyway
oh angel
of mine.
Everyone's garden seems trimmed
nowhere to hide a wanting fairy
no room for boxes
of secrets
no where to shelter hidden meanings
tied to strings.
I've planned an invitation
going to send it
by a doves wing
fore although my tiny angel is far away
I'll embroider her memory
and attach it to all my songs.
Yes
everything wears a coat
and everyone understands
a certain long lost tiny angel
and empty pockets.
Despite what people tell you
and no matter how loudly
there are fairies
who burst forth from their cages
leaving a jealous heart
alone.
