Camino Frances
The Camino Frances is the main walking route for most pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela, where the shrine of St James is located inside the Cathedral in Santiago.
More than 100,000 pilgrims travel along this route every year, and during holy years that number doubles. During the next holy year (2010)the Camino is expected to get very busy as it will be 11 years till the one after 2021.
Pilgrims start at St Jean Pied de Port and walk or cycle 780km to Santiago - if they are walking it will normally take one full month, and about half of that for cyclists.
There are pilgrims hostels at almost every little town along the way, and of course in all the large cities. Some of these hostels are free, however most charge between %u20AC3 and %u20AC8 - very well priced.

Camino Books
Guide books are not required to find your way on the Camino - however they are handy to have a read at before you go - don't carry any heavy ones with you - weight is an issue if you are walking every day.

- I have been looking for a good Squidoo site that shows all aspects of the Way to Santiago. I'm impressed with your link. It addresses many questions a future pilgrim may have and does a good job of inticing them to attempt the walk. Congratulations!
