Keep Camping Clean - For a Safe Summer Holiday
Camping equipment and tent accessories specialists Camperlands have advised parents to keep their children's health as their number one priority when embarking on camping trips this summer. The firm, which specialises in campervan accessories and Motorhome equipment is urging parents to take the necessary precautions to prevent illness on camping holidays, as children are more susceptible to common camping problems such as stomach aches and diarrhoea.
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer airbeds, ground sheets, tents, Motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "It's very easy to just let loose when out in the wilderness, but young children need extra care as any illness will undoubtedly put a downer on the holiday.
"With Camperlands' range of camping hygiene products, you can be sure that you and your children remain clean and germ-free, and that your holiday goes and smoothly as possible."
The biggest culprits in camping related illnesses come from the lack of fresh water for showers and bathroom facilities. Camperlands have a range of portable toilets which make for safe and hygienic disposal of waste. The Kampa Khazi portable toilet comes with a removable waste container which is easy to empty. It is compact and can be used for storage when not in use. A range of practical and easy to use toilet accessories are also available, such as paper holders and toilet covers.
To make clean, fresh water readily available, the Fiamma Roll Tank is perfect for storing up to 40 litres. Alongside water storage, the firm stocks a range of water pumps and connections to make an efficient pumping system which can help to minimise the risk of illness on camping trips.
Mr Ryder added, "Along with these camping equipment essentials, it is advisable to make sure that children clean their hands thoroughly after using the bathroom and before eating or drinking. Antibacterial washes and wipes may also help to keep everyone in the best of health."

Camping For Reduced Carbon Emissions
The smell of fresh air, the sound of birds singing and the first rays of sunshine, enthusiastically greeting you as the day breaks. Yes, camping is wonderful. But have you been out of touch with Mother Nature? If so, this is the perfect time to get reacquainted with the help of Camperlands, the leading online suppliers of camping equipment and campervan accessories.
If you're cutting back while the UK economy is still in recession, there's no need to forego your traditional two-week holiday. The popularity of camping is on the rise with more and more of us packing our tents and trailer tents, loading up on camping accessories and heading off for a fortnight in the great outdoors. The Camping and Caravan Club estimates that one third of the British population will consider camping in the UK over an overseas break this year and most parks are reporting an unprecedented surge in bookings.
Camping is easily one of the cheapest of all getaways with great trips enjoyable on even the smallest shoestring budget, camping is great fun for all the family and, while it's kind to the pocket, it's even kinder to the environment. Although jet travel has attempted to clean up its image with some carriers offering passengers the chance to offset their carbon footprint for a small additional fee, travelling to and from the airport and increased consumption with little likelihood of recycling while away, all contribute to a lasting carbon footprint. So if you're looking for a way to save some money and make a difference to the world, you'll need to pack the essentials to get the most out of your adventure.
If the thought of setting up camp is too daunting, there are some shortcut options for lazy campers: the Khyam Longleat 2009 comes equipped with Khyam's Rapidex Quick-Pitching System, which makes it easy for anybody to set the spacious tent up. Highly stable and with plenty of space, this is a firm favourite for camping novices alike. It no time at all, your cosy home from home is securely pitched.
Of course, when your trailer tent is parked or tent pegs secured, you'll also need somewhere to sleep. The Coleman Fission X850 Sleeping Bag is lightweight and body contoured, ensuring a snug, comfortable night of rest, especially in summer evenings when temperatures tend to drop. Highly durable and machine washable, the sleeping bag can be used year after year if the camping bug bites.
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer airbeds, ground sheets, tents, Motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "We're pleased to see that more people are considering camping for their summer getaway. It can be days of fun, and a chance to really enjoy the great outdoors. And if it saves you money while helping the environment, you can't really go wrong!"
Basics like a tent and sleeping bag aside, you may want to invest in more luxurious camping accessories for your tent or folding trailer tent. Camperlands stock a massive supply of camping equipment and desirable not so essentials - from camping cookers and cutlery to powered lighting, tables, chairs and even wardrobes, larders and shelves.

Folding Campers from Camperlands
Folding Campers
Trailer tents and folding campers have grown in popularity in recent years and it is not hard to see why. Boasting higher levels of comfort than the traditional dome and frame camping tent, whilst still preserving the joys of the great outdoors, the folding camper and trailer tent is a particular favourite among those who have previously owned caravans and small motorhomes.
A step down you may think, yet every year, more and more people are waking up to the idea, that trailer tents and folding campers can offer genuine advantages over the more luxurious caravan and motorhome.
Offering the customer with an unrivalled camping experience, which does away with the time and cost involves with maintainance, Trailer tents and folding campers can provide a very reasonable level of comfort at a fraction of the cost of a caravan or motorhome and what's more, they are also easier to tow, requiring far less storage space. Praised for the fact that devaluation figures are much easier on the back pocket.
Camperlands The Leading Providers Of Folding Campers And Trailer Tents
Here at Camperlands we pride ourselves on being the biggest trailer tent and folding camper retailer in the UK, with a large proportion of the Manchester showground dedicated to, displaying and demonstrating a comprehensive selection of new and used stock. Our trailer tent stock includes many of the popular models that can be bought from camping outlets up and down the country. We are extremely pleased to be in a position to offer trailer tents, which cannot be found anywhere else in the UK and we are also the sole UK distributors for many top European manufacturers including TransCamper, CampMaster, Camplet and Jamet and frequently have in stock specially designed trailer tents from Trigano. Trailer tents can accommodate between two and eight people and are ideal for fun family and group holidays.
Similar to trailer tents but on a grander scale, folding campers make use of an enlarged chassis that can be as long as an 18ft caravan when erected. The larger size allows for the inclusion of features more commonly found on in caravans and motorhome's such as, 12v and 240v electrics, fitted fridges, heaters and cassette toilets, ovens, water heaters and sink and drainers.
Other benefits only become evident when the folding camper is folded down such as, reduced height and length, which makes towing and storage much easier. The gross weight of a folding camper can be up to 50 per-cent less than some caravans. Folding campers require no pegging and take about 5-10 minutes to fully erect. Comfortable accommodation is provided for 4-6 people but this can be extended to 10 by utilising the awning and bedroom extensions.
Here at Camperlands we believe that knowledge is the key, which is why we have provided quite a lot of information for you to take in, but feel it will benefit you, particularly if you are considering your first purchase and have no knowledge to draw from.

Make Festival Time Easy With Camperlands
THINGS TO CONSIDER
COST How much do you want to spend? The type of festival you are attending often determines this. If it is the sort of festival where people generally behave in a 'sensible' manner the cost of your tent is not really an issue. However, if you are going to a more lively event, where certain festival goers are prone to over indulge in substances both legal and illegal, you may wish to consider a cheaper tent in case of accidental damage, after all how much can you afford to write off?
WEIGHT The weight of the tent could be important. If you only need to carry the tent a couple of hundred yards weight might not matter, but at some festivals a trek of a mile or so with your tent is not uncommon. If you're arriving by public transport you might find this adds considerable distance between you and your festival residence. Also, consider the weight of any additional camping equipment you plan to take along with your tent, purchasing a festival tent with the lowest possible weight, may well be the most sensible option.
TYPE OF TENT How much space, or lack of it, will be appropriate for your length of stay and the level of comfort you want to achieve? How easy will the tent be to pitch and take down again? Will you be able to find your tent in the massive camping fields common at many festivals? Consider the colour of your tent.
Enjoy choosing your tent, but more importantly, enjoy your festival(s).
Make Gourmet Cookery A Reality This Season With Camperlands
With camping set to increase to unprecedented levels this summer as the credit crunch begins to bite and temperatures set to rocket over the coming months, Camperlands, the leading provider of camping equipment and campervan accessories are offering camping novices the ultimate guide to campsite cookery!
The camping novice can be filled with dread at the thought of baked beans for breakfast lunch and dinner, but camping in the 21st century has changed significantly with the introduction of portable gas hubs, portable ovens and burner stoves.
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer airbeds, ground sheets, tents, Motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "Progressions in camping equipment mean that the days of eating a tin based diet are long gone! Today campers are more likely to be eating apple cider stew or chicken creole!
The Kampa Roast Master available from Camperlands, is the ideal camping accessory for gourmet living. Consisting of a two in one combo hob and oven, this nifty piece of equipment allows for not only matchless ignition but also allows the user to create even the most complex of dishes.
When arriving at the campsite location make sure that you seek out shade for food preparation, and bear this in mind when pitching your tents. This area should also house all of your perishable foods, so make sure that as well as keeping them chilled in cooler bags, make an effort to keep them out of the sun's harmful rays. Any good campsite will have an ice store or somewhere where you can get ice from, so be sure to ask for directions on arrival to ensure that you food is as fresh as a daisy.
The same attention should be paid to dry foods such as cereals, breads and seeds, to make sure that boxes or packaging are not penetrated by birds, insects or ants. If your car is nearby, try storing such items in the car boot or back seat, that way you will avoid any nasty additions to your morning meal!
Mr Ryder, from the firm who offer a huge range of cooking equipment ideal for campsite cookery added, "Camping comfortably is all about preparation. Make sure that you compile a list of tasty recipes before you set off, that way you will be able to provide your friends and family members with a balanced diet that steers away from the traditional burger and baked bean partnership!. Make sure that you also take bio-degradable detergent with you, so that you can wash up afterwards and keep the pests at bay.
"Camping novices should certainly think about getting some hints and tips from those in the know prior to departure. I would advise anyone with a future trip in mind to pay our website a visit for the very latest hints and tips to ensure that you make the most of your time outdoors."

Camping Equipment Specialists Urge Campers To Boost Their Green Credentials
With temperatures starting to hit the low to mid 20s, it seems the Summer is almost here and with the credit crunch forcing more families to holiday in the UK, Manchester-based firm Camperlands is urging campers to think about the environment before setting up camp.
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm which offers airbeds, ground sheets, tents, Motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "It is great that more Britons are taking to the English countryside this Summer, to really explore how beautiful our country really is. At the same time, it is absolutely essentials that campers everywhere think about how they can be environmentally-friendly. It is no secret that global warming is a big problem and that our Government is continually encouraging us, the British public, to be more eco-friendly."
So, here are a few tips from the Camperlands team on how campers in the UK can help the environment, while still making the most of their Summer holiday:
1) Bear in mind, the further you go, the bigger your travel carbon footprint is likely to be, so it might be worth looking into your local campsite first before broadening your horizons.
2) That is not to say you cannot travel further than your local area or county. If you do decide to travel further, carpooling is another option. Sharing a ride with other campers will only make the trip more enjoyable for you and will also mean you are doing your part to help the environment. Of course, given the current petrol prices, you will probably have to contribute toward that cost - but the cost on the environment is reduced the second you decide to carpool.
3) If you are not comfortable sharing a car with others, you could consider public transport, such as a coach or a train. The earlier the book, the cheaper the tickets are likely to be - and again, leaving the car at home is helping the environment,.
4) Recycling really is important. Many camp-sites have recycling facilities on-site - but if not, remember to put all your items in a bag for when you leave the site. (Remember one of the golden rules of camping - if you brought it with you, take it home with you, leaving the campsite in the same condition in which you found it).
5) LED lamps use less batteries than traditional torches and are therefore handy for camping trips. Here at Camperlands, we stock a range of LED lights and lantern, such as the Kampa Dynamo Lantern, which provide a super bright light source but have ultra low power consumption.

Camping Essentials For Festival Frolics
It's nearly that time of year again and while Glastonbury Festival is considered to be one of the leading events in the musical calendar, festival virgins may be unaware of the survival skills necessary for an enjoyable experience. Now Camperlands, the leading provider of camping equipment and campervan accessories are offering first hand advice to help festival goers everywere avoid a wet and miserable trip.
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer airbeds, ground sheets, tents, Motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "The festival season is all about image, looking good and enjoying the great outdoors. Every year we see photos of celebrities wearing the very latest fashions, wearing the brightest wellies and pitching the most colourful tents they can find. Planning in advance may be the last thing on your mind, but it is this preparation that will inevitably lead to an enjoyable stay.
"Arriving at the site of the festival is a great idea, that way you can explore the area in advance and pick a prime location for your tent placement. By looking online in advance, you will be able to determine where to pitch your tent, and for many this depends on what they are looking to get from the experience. Those who want to watch the music from the comfort of their own tent, often pitch their tent in the fields that overlook the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury."
If you have just purchased a new tent for the festival season, it may save time and stress if you practice pitching it beforehand or at least read the instructions, as some designs can be hard to pitch. For the lazy camper, however, there are solutions to this common problem. The 2007 Wynnster Prairie 3 DLX, is a great example of a two-berth tent ideal for short stays and festivals that can be pitched in minutes. Priced at just £39.99 this tent is made from waterproof outer material, making sure that a wet and miserable weekend is off the cards.
Mr Ryder from the firm who offer everything for the budding festival goer including sleeping bags and airbeds, added, "Before you leave the house, and make sure that you have packed all of the essentials. Make sure that you take a torch with you for evening trips to the bathroom and stock up on toilet rolls- after all you do not want to be caught short."
The Coleman Rechargeable LED Light, available from Camperlands is a great idea, as it features two LED bulbs are rated to last more than 100 000 hours. Finally, make sure that you take food into account, although there are many fast food outlets at festivals, this may get boring after the first day, so make preparations to have a picnic, cook your own food or even have a BBQ. The Campingaz Camping Duo Plus, is a great two burner stove, ideal for making beans, omelettes or sausages the choice is yours. Complete with a built in windshield, this unit it as sturdy as it is practical.

Campsite Owners Announce Sunny Outlook For 2009!
The economy may be in tatters but the UK's campsites are reporting increases of up to 40 per-cent on their bookings for 2009, and with many of the leading supermarkets clearing their shelves to make way for camping chic- it seems that the media's predictions of a camping revival may just be right.
With a reduction on gas prices, campground costs rivalling any package holiday and the cost of camping equipment, able to fit well within any families' budget, the predications for 2009, look very sunny indeed.
Jon Dray, owner of Rosebud farm Touring Park based in Bodmin Cornwall, believes that media hype is helping to drive this marked increase, he said, "Visitors to our website are up 30 per-cent on last year, and this goes to show that it is not worth going abroad due to the weakness of the pound against the Euro.
"Some campsites are trying to take advantage of this increase with rising pitch charges and this in my opinion is down to greed. We started off offering pitches at just £10 all inclusive, but you can get people who take advantage of this and try to sleep ten people in one tent! We have now revised our prices, but they still remain two thirds cheaper than many other sites in the area, and we are keeping it that way, mainly to help those who can't afford expensive holidays abroad."
Mr Dray, who believes that the major challenge facing campsites in North Cornwall, is the district council added, "One of our major challenges is our local council, who are telling us all that there are to be no more campsites opened in the area. The market really isn't saturated and it can be a bit of a struggle for some businesses wanting to expand."
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer airbeds, ground sheets, tents, Motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "The outlook really is bright for campsites throughout the UK this summer, and we have experienced increases on camping equipment of up to 40 per-cent.
"The credit crunch seems to be affecting everyone, job security is diminishing and general morale has taken a tumble. The saver savvy are certainly opting for the traditional camping holiday this year, especially those with young children. Many of our customers are keen to give their children some of the fond camping memories that they hold so dear and this is one reason why campsites are set to do well this year. I am sure everyone will agree that this is great news for firms like ours and for the British economy more generally."

The breadth of the Jamet range is second to none encompassing a variety of stylish canvas trailer tents. Carry On Camping This Summer! The Celebrities Are!
Camping used to fail itself in the style stakes what with girl guides, hippies and soggy tents, but still the Great British public carry on camping! Now the experts at Camperlands the camping equipment specialists are explaining why camping is all the rage in 2009 and what the new generation of campers are requesting when it comes to the crunch.Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer airbeds, ground sheets , tents , motorhome equipment and caravan accessories , said, "Camping is becoming more tolerable to those who enjoy home comforts, especially with the introduction of blow up mattresses, designer sleeping bags and campbeds . So there really is no need to be cold and damp for the duration of your break."
One of Camperland's best sellers is their bright pink Coleman Scattered Sleeping Bag , with flower detail, perfect for those looking to play the stylish camper card this year and for making their fellow campers green (or should we say pink!) with envy!
Jonathan Knight, author of Cool Camping: England, recently said that, "The intervention into the market by top designers had introduced an element of style to the traditional camping weekend", and with many celebrities grabbing those wellies and pitching up for the cause, it is not surprising then that camping has undergone a stylish transformation. With Alice Temperley championing the holiday alternative in an interview with The Telegrapah last year, claiming that she spends romantic weekends on a farm near Glastonbury in a tepee, it comes as no surprise that camping really is becoming fashionable in its own right.
Each year, stars from around the world don their wellies for Glastonbury and encourage camping virgins to take the plunge, and why not when wellie companies everywhere are intent on creating such beautiful designs?!
Mr Ryder added, "Our camping equipment sales have literally gone through the roof since the credit crunch stuck, and that is clearly down to an influx in customers seeking out cheaper alternatives to the traditional package holiday, especially with job security diminishing and many families looking after those pennies. These days' campsites are even taking on a new lease of life, and offering the avid camper something a little bit different."
Vintage Vacations in the Isle of White offers its campers with a unique 1960's experience, where campers can stay in one of two Airstream trailers away from the hustle of modern life and re-live their childhood if desired. There is even a solution for campers seeking to enjoy the great outdoors like never before, with camping at Caerfai Bay, in Pembrokeshire, holding the answer for many. With beautiful views and a base that is an organic farm, there really is no better place to camp and enjoy the great outdoors.
Mr Ryder added, "Some of our customers are taking their holidays abroad to the next level this summer and are staying right here in the UK this year instead of paying through the nose for an overpriced hotel. This is leaving them more time and flexibility to travel around the different regions and experience new things. There really is a camping option for every type of traveller and at Camperlands the camping revolution is something we are welcoming with open arms."
About Camperlands
Camperlands Ltd was founded by the late and much missed Mike and Peggy Ryder in 1968. The original concept was to hire frame tents out in the summer season to generate some extra income for their growing family. Their first season lasted 6 weeks during the summer school holidays and was run from the back garden of the family home.
It was a resounding success, which gave the Ryder's the confidence to begin tent sales along with camping equipment and caravan accessories . The business grew and the following year relocated onto a garage forecourt, where all the tent displays had to be erected and dismantled every day. So in 1970 the company moved to its present premises, this gave Mike and Peggy Ryder the space and security required to begin creating the purpose built open-air camping and leisure exhibition that exists today.
Today there are quite literally thousands of caravan, camping and motorhome accessories in stock, with several covered display areas dedicated to trailer tents, tents and folding campers.

Camperlands Succeed At This Year's Boat Caravan and Outdoor Show
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer trailer tents , tents, motorhome equipment and caravan accessories said, "I was pleased to see trailer tents doing so well, our top seller was the Camp-Let Concorde, which was a strong product especially as it came in 2nd place in the Lightweight Leisure Trailer Awards, which is run by the Caravan Club." It was even better news for the camp-let brand as the camp-let royal took 1st prize. This is the 4th year in succession that a camp-let model has been voted 1st prize.

Launched in January, on the Camperlands website, last month's edition focused on credit crunch holiday alternatives, which presented their readers with different ways to explore the great outdoors and have a memorable holiday without the financial impact.

Each month we will be featuring product news, reviews and articles centred around getting the most from your camping experience for less.
"The credit crunch seems to be affecting everyone, job security is diminishing and general morale has taken a tumble. The new newsletter which internet users can subscribe to at www.camperlands.co.uk also intends to keep keen campers 'in the know', by providing information on upcoming events, both regionally and nationally, in addition to the very latest sale information, camping health news and new product launches.

Camperlands To Make This Year's Boat Caravan And Outdoor Show More Credit Less Crunch
Camping equipment specialists, Camperlands are eagerly anticipating this year's Boat Caravan and Outdoor Show at the NEC and are giving away 200 free tickets to create a shopping experience that is certainly more credit less crunch!Running from the 17-22 February, the team at Camperlands will be displaying the Camp-Let from Denmark at their stand in hall three, number 3137. Unique and easy to set up, hard top Trailer Tent/Camper, has taken the UK market by storm, winning "Best Lightweight Trailer Tent" over £3100 for three years running.
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer trailer tents, tents, motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "We realise that it has been a very difficult time for many of our customers especially in light of the current economic downturn. Many of our customers are looking to reduce the cost of this year's family break by going camping instead of purchasing the usual package holiday especially when the pound is so weak against the Euro. This is why we are taking steps to ease the financial strain and giving away 200 free tickets, which will equate to one ticket per family, so that more people can benefit from these additional savings."
This year's show is set to be one of the biggest to date with over 100 pitched tents, Spring model launches from the leading caravan and motor home manufacturers, and more bargains than you can shake a stick at, on everything from the latest camping accessories and gadgets, sleeping bags to heaters, cleaning products to porches and awnings.
For those seeking a little outdoor adventure, the Motor Boats Monthly Marine Hall will be featuring a fantastic display of luxury motor yachts, sports boats, RIB's, narrow boats, canoes, kayaks and inflatable's, and even companies offering tailored boating breaks to suit your families' needs.
Mr Ryder added, "The show is a great value day out for the whole family especially as this year's event is set to provide the kids with something a little bit different, with free canoeing and kayaking lessons, mini golf and climbing which are thankfully all included in the price of the ticket.
"Every year we really look forward to showcasing our very best camping equipment at the NEC and find it is a great opportunity to liaise with others in the industry and those who have a real passion for the outdoors."
Camping: The Recession Holiday?
Latest predictions from camping equipment specialists, Camperlands estimate that as the recession is beginning to bite, we are officially in the midst of a camping revival. As Tina Clough investigates, there really is more to this big budget getaway than eating beans and other delicacies from the tin, taking in the great outdoors and singing songs around the campfire.Carry On Camping may have helped to launch the camping phenomena back in the 1960's but the new breed of campers have comfort at the forefront of their ethos, it seems that the days of building a ditch around the tent in case it rains and digging a dunny are long gone!
Dominic Ryder, Managing Director of Camperlands, the Manchester based firm who offer camping equipment, trailer tents , tents, Motorhome equipment and caravan accessories, said, "The credit crunch seems to be effecting everyone, job security is diminishing and general morale has taken a tumble. This means that taking a break is essential to boost spirits and to get some well-deserved me-time. The saver savvy are opting for the traditional camping holiday especially those with young children. Many of our customers are keen to give their children some of the fond camping memories that they hold so dear."
29 year-old Lee Carlisle from Nottingham, has extremely fond memories of camping with scouts, he said, "We used to go away all the time with scouts and on this one occasion we were all out walking and one of the lads tripped up my friend Jamie catapulting him head first into a cow pat! Needless to say his white-blonde hair turned green and he was forced to wear a hat all weekend!"
Mr Carlisle added, "Camping was great when you were younger and it was almost like your parents would act like kids too. We went to Wales one year with the family and my dad turned our tents back to front without telling us. After returning from a long walk and no doubt a game of footie, my dad went back to his tent and sniggered at us for half an hour while we tried to work out what had happened!"
What's more, it isn't just those hungry for fond memories who are going camping this year, with the pound performing so badly against the Euro, and the European holiday price hike, taking the average cost of a Mediterranean family holiday up to £500 per person, it is not surprising then that many are seeking out wallet friendly alternatives.
Mr Ryder, whose camping equipment firm has been inundated with requests over the past few months, said, "At Camperlands, it is possible to pick up a four berth tent, one double sleeping bag and two singles, a light, a double burner camping stove and a cook-set all for just over £300. This is a saving of around £200 on the package holiday cost for one person. If you have a family of four your savings could total up to £1700!
"Some of our customers are taking their holidays abroad to the next level this summer and opting for a camping break abroad instead of paying through the nose for an overpriced hotel. This is leaving them more time and flexibility to travel around the different regions and experience different cultures. There really is a camping option for every type of traveller and at Camperlands the camping revolution is something we are welcoming with open arms."
