With only 10 of the best places, this is a tough one.  Just like the rest of Europe the UK has lots of history so it's perfect for those who like 'old things'.  The British were always fighting someone, either themselves or their foreign neighbours, which means there are lots of castles and defensive structures.  When they weren't fighting they were showing off their wealth, so again that means big cathedrals, houses, and civic buildings.  It's not just about history, there are modern things to do for visitors on a motorhome rental or campervan hire holiday, but for the time being we'll stick to the old stuff!

London.  This is where most visitors will send at least a few days visiting sights such as Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and the Tower of London.  The Tower is a very popular attraction and is where villains were executed and their heads mounted on stakes on the bridge.  Don't upset anyone!

York.  The ancient city of York is a maze of old cobbled streets and has a magnificent cathedral.  The Yorvick Viking museum tells the story of the Viking invasion with very realistic reconstructions, even the smells are foul.

Edinburugh.  The Scottish capital and home of a very grand castle, Edinburgh is where you can see men wearing kilts, playing bagpipes and eating haggis; but only on special occasions.

Bath.  The Roman city of Bath is an elegant and exclusive place to visit.  Once it was the place where Roman centurions bathed in the fine waters, today visitors can do the same in some of the spas.

Liverpool.  Home of the Beatles and a famous football team.  The Albert Docks are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth a visit to find out about the city's history and to visit the museum where items from the Titanic are displayed.

Warwick.  Warwick Castle has undergone a transformation and now houses interesting displays and reconstructions of its bloody history.  Not a typical 'ruin' as some castles are, this is a good place for a family visit.

Stratford upon Avon.  The home of Shakespeare, and some very traditional black and white Tudor houses.

Oxford.  The university city with beautiful buildings and huge spires.  This cream stone city is always popular with guests especially those with a motorhome rental or campervan hire because there are so many facilities available.

Brighton.  Something a little different as this is a seaside town, but the Brighton Pavilion certainly fits into the 'showing off' description.  The pavilion was enlarged and improved by George IV, Prince of Wales who wanted a spectacular palace by the sea.  He certainly got that.

Stonehenge, Wiltshire.  Not exactly a castle, but a great feat of early architecture, the stone circle at Stonehenge is still a mystery, what was its purpose?  Perhaps you can unravel the answer.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of some of the most popular historic sites in the UK.  There are plenty more fantastic places to discover and if you don't like history there are lots of other things to do too.  As well as the great sights there are some equally good facilities for motorhome rental and campervan hire vehicles, which will make it a holiday to remember.
