A campfire adds romance to the outdoors
Campfires are not just for camping anymore. Anywhere around the lake on a summer evening you will see dozens of campfires. It is a gathering place, a place to tell stories, and a place to reminsce. Sometimes there is food; sometimes not. A campfire can be for cooking if you are in a camp set up but more often for snacks of smores, fresh popped popcorn, for hot dogs on a stick.
A campfire is an invitation for the neighbors to stop by, the family to leave the computer, TV or video games and gather. Something about watching a fire is fascinating. It is a perfect setting in the dark for ghost stories or a sing-a-long. A campfire is a peaceful, calming, and sharing experience.
It's time for S'mores and Cider!
Well, religion has been passed down through the years by stories people tell around the campfire. Stories about God, stories about love. Stories about good spirits and evil spirits.

Watching the fire!
What does it take to build a campfire?
A simple Recipe will do it
1. Kindling
2. Fuel - dry
3. Oxygen
4. Light
That sounds simple. The kindling needs to be small, easy to burn, and gives fast flames. That fast flame will in turn start the fuel (bigger wood) to burn. The oxygen is just to say that a major part of building a fire is placement. The kindling needs to be loosely placed on a grate or in a manner that air (oxygen) can circulate and let the fire breath. The fuel needs to be placed teepee style or in a log cabin position (the top logs always are closer together than the bottom in a log cabin). Either style will give lots of air flow. The light can be from matches, a cigarette lighter, a candle lighter or if you're in to the old and authentic use two sticks or a flint and rock. (I prefer a lighter because it is quicker.) Above all for a well laid fire you need patience. Don't rush, let the first wood be well into burning before you ad more. It will be a showy fire soon enough.
Or you just do it the cheaters way. Lay out some charcoal, add some small twigs, add some bigger limbs and coat it all well with charcoal lighter. Light a match or lighter to it and there it goes. Of course, for the good glowing fire that last you still have to have patience before you can build it more.
What's a Fire without proper attire?
Build your campfire in style - or just sit back and enjoy someone else's campfire.
Fall is here- crisp chilly evenings- great fire time
Story time, S'more time, and topped with Cider.
There is something about the crisp air of the fall/autumn that is inviting to an evening out of doors. Sharing time around the fire with memories of summer; looking to a cold winter. Enjoying those last leisure times in the out of doors. This goes hand in hand with Halloween, Trick-or-Treating, Hayrides, Pumpkin patches and lots of family fun. One more time to be thankful I'm a country person and not in the city.

Great idea! We just had a family reunion around a campfire last weekend, in Central Illinois. I came away with an address of a long lost relative, that led me to a lot of names to add to my genealogy!
