Camp Ghost Stories

It was in the summer and my family and I went camping like we do every year. This place was called Punderson.

Everything went good at first in the day time but at night weird stuff started happening. Everyone was at the camp fire having a good time but I happened to look over my shoulder and I saw a 6 foot man or what ever it was. I jumped and screamed and my family told me that is was my brother going on the cooler but I really didn't know what it was so I let it go. I tried to enjoy myself but I had a bad feeling the whole night.

Before it was time to go to bed my brother and I decided to go to the bathroom. As we were walking I was hearing extra foot steps behind us. It sounded like dogs running. I turned around and nothing was there but when I turned back around I saw this thing hunched over and deformed, looking at me from a distance. My heart stopped. I couldn't move. All I could do was talk in my head. This thing put fear in my heart so bad I thought I was gonna die that night.

It kept looking at me and I heard a deep, deep voice saying who are you. It was like it was right in my ear. I answered it. I told it that I didn't want to die, leave me alone and go back to hell, then I heard my brother come out of the bathroom and he said that he saw me bent over in a way that he had never seen before. He ran to me and shook me. My face looked different, it didn't look like me at all. He said that I wasn't his sister anymore, I was something else.

When I was 10, I was a boy scout in the Philippines. One time we were sent to camp Apollo to camp for three days. It was a long drive to camp. When we reached camp Apollo it was already sunset. I stepped down the bus first, when suddenly a shadow passed over my head, when I looked up there was nothing. I thought it was just my imagination. I waited until all my fellow scouts were off the bus.

At night I woke up 2:00 in the morning because of the mosquitoes that wouldn't stop biting me. I went out of my tent to get away from the mosquitoes. When I looked around I saw some scouts outside talking and doing their stuff. Guess they cant stand the mosquitoes too. Just then something dark passed in front of me, when I looked around there was nothing, I was getting nervous. I went on walking, trying to find a comfortable place to sit, finally I found a huge tree, I went to the tree to sit on one of its roots. Suddenly something caught my attention, a ball under the street light. I went to get it, just when I was about to grab it, a huge shadow passed above me, when I looked up I saw a huge dark figure above me. I was so scared to move, but when I found my strength again I ran as fast as my foot can carry me, I felt that the thing was following me, as I saw my tent I ran faster, then I dove through the open door of the tent. I immediately opened my bags looking for my Swiss knife, when I found it, I heard something screeching outside. I opened the tent, closed my eyes, and started running, swinging my knife hoping that it would hit the dark thing.

Next thing I knew is that I woke up in the tent of the scout master, they told me that I was running and screaming while swinging something, then I just fell down, they took me to the scoutmaster's tent. They also told me that I was very pale when they found me. I swore to myself that I will never go back to that camp again.

This is a TRUE story:

This was about last year when I was 12 and in the 6th grade. I was joined with my girl scout troop and we were going camping over night at a public campground. The camp was called Camp Connecticut and was located in the state Maryland. The camp has this 140 year old abandoned mansion that is supposedly haunted. We weren't entitled to go inside or stand on the property of this house because it was private property. Plus, the campground was behind this mansion.

So, one of the two days my troop and I spent at this campground, we spent it inside the mansion. Rumor says it was haunted, so we just wanted to see how much of the rumors were true. So, during the day, while my troop was doing some activities with other troops , my leaders snuck inside the house from the basement and unlocked the front door from the inside.

Later that night, all of the troops at the campground combined and had a campfire which was located past the mansion. My troop was the first one to leave and we were walking past the mansion and I swear-the lights in this one room started flashing!!! And then, some other troops came up behind us and passed the room with the flashing lights. But as soon as the other troop was coming up behind ours, the lights STOPPED flashing and everything went dark.

Later at exactly 12:00 am, my girl scout leaders woke us up and my troop ONLY walked to the mansion. (remember-my troop was the only troop awake) so, when we got to the house, we tried to open the front door of the house that my leaders unlocked earlier in the day, but...the door was locked!!! So, we just went in from the basement like my leaders did earlier in the day. We didn't have flashlights or anything. The house was dark except that one room with the flashing lights. My troop and I crept upstairs and checked out all the different rooms. On one room, the water ran and turned off by itself, and in another room, a DVD player was UNPLUGGED and a movie played and the volume on the movie kept accelerating and decreasing by itself. But the scariest thing that happened in there- my troop leader found a locked door an we knocked to see what would happen and we heard slow footsteps coming towards the door...then we all ran. We all ran out of that house and back to our tent at the campground. That was the last time I've ever stepped foot in that house or on the campground.

Later that night, at exactly 12:00 am, the leaders woke up my troop and we walked to the mansion by ourselves. (Remember-my troop was the only troop awake)

It was our class leadership training at a congressman's rest house last January and we are gonna stay overnight there by camping. We all brought our tents and all things needed.

We stayed at the field beside the house. We set up our tents next to a tree. It was a big, unusual but beautiful tree. All my classmates are going to participate in the training except me because I am asthmatic so I was considered and just sat on one side watching.

The following night, when all my classmates were in their training while I stayed inside my tent just to watch over our things, I got up and looked outside, it was very dark around and we only had one light then I looked over the tree, I saw a white figure walking by it, it was white and a blurry stick figure like. I kept staring as it was walking away from the tree then disappears into thin air. I wasn't afraid because it was meters away from me.

Then after the incident, all my classmates came back to their respective tents. I told our facilitator who is also our teacher in school. He has the ability of seeing ghost so I told him my story. He told me he also saw the same thing that I saw before at the very same spot. He told me, there are more than just one ghost roaming the field at night. So I guess, the ghost I saw was just a guardian angel that means no harm.

My aunt worked at this camp, it was pretty far away so she didn't go home. A long time ago this family named the Wilson's owned the camp. They had three kids Sally, Megan and Billy. Billy was an athlete. Megan was pretty and smart. Sally was kind of big. Everybody used to pick on her about her weight.

It was their parents anniversary.They were going on a vacation to Las Vegas. While they were gone Megan and Billy were picking on Sally. One day Sally exploded on the other two. Then Billy and Megan started beating up Sally. They knocked her out. Then they tied her hands behind her back and tied her feet to a cinder block. They took her down to the lake near the camp. They threw her in the lake. She drown. When the parents came home, they didn't tell them about sally.

The legend has it that if you go swimming there she will pull you underwater or if you stand on the dock she will try to grab you and pull you in.

Well, when I was a kid I was at a summer camp just like most kids during the summer. (This camp was day camp) But, maybe half way in the summer a couple of friends and I were bored so I went into the littler kids room to get a game to play. There was no one in the room when I entered it but after I picked out a game, which was monopoly. Then when I turned around there was this kid by one of the windows. I did not recognize this kid and he asked me if I wanted to play a game. The game as he called it was Flick 'em There was this board he had which the camp had tons of them. This board had the triangles from backgammon on each side and in the middle was a chess set. In the corners were big holes and nets covered them. The board was square and had a kind of wall made of wood that was used to keep pieces from leaving the board. The rules this boy said where that you put these plastic ring like objects on the backgammon squares and each corresponding with the color. The pieces were black and red with white pieces, which were the captains. the object of the game he said was to knock the other players pieces into the nets by flicking your pieces at the other player's. If you knocked both of the other player's captains into the nets you win.

But the reason that I think that this boy was a ghost is that after he showed me the game I was leaving the room and I decided to turn back to him but he was gone. The only exit there was in the room was the doorway I was in but no one went past me. I asked my counselor if he say someone besides me leave the room he said no. He said that him and my friends and I were the only ones inside because everyone else was playing kickball. I sent this story in the ghost experiences in the forum and someone replied saying that the ghost only wanted a friend.

To this day I'm not sure if I was imagining it but it seemed so real. It seemed so sad because I recently did research and could not find any death of a child in the immediate area.

When I went cub scout camping our scoutmaster told us the story of a witch who would change into a cat creature and steal the farmers cattle. The villagers decided to catch her in the act so they caught her in mid-form. She ran away and was never seen again. But when it was dark that very night I was worried about the cat creature.

Me and my dad were looking for deer with my flashlight. I thought I saw cat ears but I wasn't sure because it was dark. I tried to sleep that night but I was positive I heard scraping.

Many years later when I joined the Boy Scouts I was driving back from a meeting when I saw something move. Strangely the cat creature popped into my head. When we went camping in a teepee weeks later the dragon patrol heard scraping in the teepee (I am in the dragon patrol). Evan said if I scream run back to camp.The cat creature popped into my head again.

Now and again she lurks, but personally I thinks she needs a friend. I have to oblige to that because she follows me everywhere.

I was at camp only for a week but a week of hell. There are a few ghosts in the camp and they are good but this is how the story goes.

On a Monday night I was asleep and I felt a tug on my leg and I thought it was the person beside me and so the next morning I asked him and he said no he did not pull my leg at all. Then on Tuesday Emma, a girl who had been at the camp for about a year, told us that the camp was haunted by five ghosts and she said that they were all good but it was very hard to believe. But I believed it as I was a victim.

The second night myself and a boy were up because we could not sleep and we saw this white girl who had been sitting on my bed singing. We were both freaked out and so we went to go and tell someone but as soon as we stood up the door had shut with an extremely loud bang and that is when we knew that no one was playing tricks. And so trying to get over it was hard but that was not all.

The next day we went down to the barn where one ghost is and he was there. He had got a book and dropped it out of no where and the book was titled as Paranormal Events. That was when the whole place went Wacko. The door shut and was not locked and was now locked and strange voices coming out of no where.

On Friday myself and my friend went up to Emma and said can you tell us why strange things have been happening to us and she said the person who was tugging on your leg was Sedric. When Sedric went out fishing a tunfar had pulled off his leg because he was so wasteful and every night he goes and pulls on somebody's legs and when it is the right size he taps on the leg.

It was a normal summer night.Me and my family were camping at Lake Paris. It is beautiful there. One night my cousins [Jasmin, Gerardo, Roger, Richard, Joseph, and Bryan] and of course me decided to walk through the woods. I didn't know something horrible was about to occur that night.

As we walk though I felt someone looking at me but didn't say anything because i knew they wouldn't believe me. So then i heard footsteps behind me and turned around and just heard very evil giggles. Then as i told them only Jasmin believed me she heard the same thing and felt the same way. Then Jasmin and me saw a little girl elf chasing a boy elf then she turned and told us to go with her and at the same time she showed us sharp teeth. We both screamed.

My cousins came and asked oh my gosh what happened. I couldn't say a word. We told them but they never believed us witch did not surprise me.Since that day i hate elves. I know what i saw was not in my mind. Then the next morning i woke up with writing on my arm that said ' LET THE ELVES REST IN PEACE!' I didn't show anybody what had happened only Jasmin she had the same thing. If you think i am lying i am not this is true. They spied on me and then i cried and was about to die!

Camping out can sometimes be a bit scary. At night will be heard many strange and unfamiliar sounds which will frighten some campers and inspire some of the best ghost story telling you have ever heard. Every cracking noise that is heard becomes a possible monster.

Imagine coming out of the woods and walking into the light of the campfire with a really scary mask or even a full costume! Campers sitting around the fire, nervous and on edge from listening to the scary stories then an unexpected visit from some horrible creature!

I went to camp for a school excursion in the Adelaide Hills. I had left my group who were in the pool to take a shower as I was sick. When I had finished my shower I started walking to the payphone to tell my mum I had caught a cold. But I didn't make it to the phone. As I had seen a man in the dorms. Dressed in a raincoat, the hood pulled over his face. It was summer and I knew no one would wear a raincoat in summer. I was in a short sleeve top and skirt. So I went to check it out.

I walked in, looked behind the door, he was gone! No way could he have walked past me. I called out hello? Sir? Nothing. Then a hand touched me across my shoulders! I spun around and accused my best-friend of playing games on me. Tahnyta! I yelled this is not funny. Then the door behind me slammed shut.

I ran straight out to find that Tahny was in the pool. She said "wat up girl y'all seen a ghost or sumthin your pale as..." I replied, "you will think I'm nuts if I told you so drop it." All night she demanded I tell her. But I never did.

Another time I tried to summon a spirit and succeeded. But I think he never left as I didn't ask him to and still to this day my cat will stare over my shoulder like something/one is there.

This is a true story about a man I saw at camp that just disappeared.

I was at camp probably two or three years ago, One of my leaders asked me to throw away the garbage. All of the trash cans had a line, so I went into the bathroom down the dining hall. Nobody was in there and I did not believe in ghosts then, and I was not afraid. I bent over to throw away the things, when I saw the feet of a man! In panic my reaction was see who it was. when I glanced real quickly he was gone!

I hurried out of their telling my friend what happened. She came in to check out what was going on. We agreed something was wrong.

I never will use the YMCA Store camp bathroom to throw away trash again! This story was the most frightening thing of my life!

My old primary school were having a day at nine ashes camping trip. When we arrived one of my friends ran out of the woods screaming, me and my others friends asked what was wrong. She told us she saw a woman in a black cloak walking towards her.

That afternoon we walked behind her as she led us to where we saw her, we took a good look and screamed when we saw that very same figure covered in black and we couldn't see its face. I was the first to run out of the woods screaming because I was so scared.

That night in the tent I was the only one awake and in the shadow of the tent I saw it right in front of me. I dared not to scream and was awake the whole night. and further on the day I and my friends never heard from it ever.

Really scary and like it was a clearly seen illusion.

This happened when I was about 10. First let me tell you that North Carolina is a place full of mysteries that are unexplainable.

Our family decided to go see one of my aunts because no one had heard from her in about three months. We arrived at her house and this feeling traveled down my spine that said something did not want us here.

My cousins and I decided to camp out in the back yard that night. We all stayed close to the campfire when we heard what seem to be a woman crying in the distance. We decided to see who it was. No one said they were scared but we traveled the entire yard in fear that we would actually find out who this was. Then a woman all crazy looking came telling us to get out before mister comes home. Then she just up and disappeared right in front of us.

Needless to say we all ran for the house and when we told the adults my aunt said that's just Tracey she haunts the lake behind our house searching for her baby. As the story goes she was a slave that took the fancy of her master's son. When she was found by her master's wife the wife decided to take the baby and Tracey went mad looking for her daughter. She is still searching these same woods looking for the baby stolen from her. Its said if you listen really hard you can still hear her sobbing uncontrollably for her baby until this day. I hope you enjoyed my story, this is a true story maybe I'll tell you how my aunt knew her name but that's another story.
