If you get lost
Do NOT panic, and take a seat right away do not move.
1. Admit you are lost. It happens to everyone sooner or later yes even me
2. Stop and sit down literally BREATH everything will be ok.
3. Take stock of your situation if you have your survival pack you are good to go.
4. Observe what you have for shelter, terrain features you can see, open areas you can signal with your mirror.
5. Stay Put Every 3 minutes blow your whistle 3 times you will be found. Do not panic, people will hear the whistle and or see mirror flashes.
6 PLEASE Stay put do not move this is the key to survival. Many people go farther away from camp thinking they are returning. Do not become a statistic.
Note three mirror flashes, three whistle blows or three fires lit in a row are the universal signs of distress.

- Good advice especially the whistle. I have had a bear right behind me on the trail and luckily had a horn that frightened him away.

- Thanks for your thoughtful lens. Many years ago at a outdoor breakfast with my family I wandered off and got lost and stuck on a hill. Fortunately there was a scout camp at the park and they found me and helped me down. A simple wistle would have been a great help that morning. Please drop by if you get a chance - Outdoor Camping Equipment
