Can I Save My Marriage?

How can I save my marriage? It's a question asked many, many times each day all over the world and from people in every walk of life. If you are in a troubled relationship, you're not alone.

I don't know why it has to happen, but it seems I hear this story far too often. People start into a relationship and it's just great. They're totally and completely head over heels in love. But something happens over time; we begin to see that our perfect mate is less than perfect and the little things that used to not matter, well, suddenly they bug the life out of us!

Any time there is more than one person living in a home, there is going to be conflict. It's a given. No way around it! Good conflict resolution skills are one of the keys to a happy relationship. Too bad we don't get a lot of training on how to do this.

So many times I think we give up on our marriages too easily. 'Hey this isn't working for me anymore', 'I'm sick of the fighting', 'I just don't think I love you like I should'and then we just move on. Guess what? The next relationship you have might not be any better! It could even be worse. Many times we just carry the same old baggage into the next relationship with us. Wouldn't it be better to try to salvage what you have and work to make it better?

There are many reasons marriages fail. Constant fighting, stressful, hectic schedules that leave no time to refresh the relationship, insecurity, money problems, infidelity, lack of communication, or just a gradual drifting apart. The big question is, can we change these things and save the marriage? I think even the worst problems can be overcome if we take the time to understand why things happened and how and open up lines of communication with one another.
