Coffee Grinds? Really?

Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/floodkoff/3845714171/Cellulite home remedies are a great option for people who are looking for a natural way to get rid of cellulite. One of the most popular cellulite home remedies being used is coffee grinds. Despite how popular it is many people still wonder if coffee grinds can help you get rid of cellulite. There are plenty of websites that support the use of coffee grinds getting rid of cellulite, but that doesn't mean it actually works. No scientific studies have ever been done on coffee grinds and cellulite, but many people find that it does make some improvement.

It's All About The Caffeine

The theory behind coffee grinds and cellulite is about the caffeine that is contained in the coffee grounds. Caffeine, as most of you know, is a legal drug that is considered a stimulant, but what you might not know is that it is also considered a diuretic. Caffeine is normally ingested, but research has shown that it can also be effective when used as a topical agent, which means rubbing the caffeine into your skin.

One reason that cellulite develops is because of poor circulation, which is quite common in people who are sedentary. Two other reasons that cellulite develops is because of the foods that you eat, poor diets cause excess fat buildup, but also water retention. Knowing some of the reasons for cellulite developing can help you gain a better understanding of how caffeine is supposed to work to get rid of cellulite.

One way that caffeine is supposed to help get rid of cellulite is through increasing circulation. Caffeine actually increases the sizes of the blood vessels and the bigger the blood vessels mean an increase in the volume of blood flowing through the veins. Caffeine also increases the speed at which the blood flows through the veins because it causes your heart to pump faster. Also as a stimulant, caffeine can help reduce the appearance of cellulite because it temporarily gives the skin a firmer appearance. Caffeine, which is also a diuretic, gets rid of any excess water that your body is storing.

So...What Do I Do With The Coffee Grinds?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/aidanwojtas/4286836335/The reason that coffee grinds are used rather than any other form of caffeine is because of how much caffeine is in each coffee bean. Coffee beans have more caffeine than any other natural plant out there and releasing the caffeine is easy, all you have to do is add hot water. When using coffee grinds as a cellulite treatment you will want to obtain 1/4 to 1/2 cup of warm coffee grinds, make sure they haven't been burned or too water logged because that will reduce the amount of caffeine in the grinds.

Once you have obtained the coffee grinds you will want to mix them with a small amount of olive oil. Once everything is mixed use a loofah mitt or your bare hands to massage the coffee grinds and oil onto the problem areas. Firmly wrap the area with plastic wrap and leave on for several minutes. Wash off the coffee grind mixture using some warm water so you can remove the residue from the olive oil.

Many people claim that coffee grinds is one of the best cellulite home remedies, but you must do it on a regular basis to notice any improvement. Simply doing it once or twice will provide you with temporary results, but the longer you continue with the treatments just might result in the happier you will be.
