Famous Canadian Olympic Athletes - Past & Present

Ever wonder what famous Canadian athletes like Mario Lemieux, Elvis Stojko, and Donovan Bailey are doing now? Look back and see what made these Canadian Olympic athletes special and find out what they've been doing recently.

Donovan Bailey - The World's Fastest Man

Donovan knew it was time for him to get off the couch when he witnessed people he used to beat in high school track competing on the National Team. Only six years later, Donovan broke the 100 meter World & Olympic record securing his first gold medal.

Shortly after breaking the 100 meter World Record, Bailey was challenged by Michael Johnson, the Olympic winner of the 200m sprint, to a highly publicized race to determine "the world's fastest man."

A sold out crowd of 60,000 were in attendance at Toronto's SkyDome to witness this highly anticipated Canada vs. US showdown. When the race began, both Donovan and Michael surged out of the gates. As Donovan creeped past, Michael pulled his quadriceps allowing Donovan to cruise past the finish line securing his title as the world's fastest man.

What is Bailey Doing Now?
More recently, Donovan Bailey has been taking advantage of his business education by pursuing a proprietary training program, real estate, and an upcoming apparel line. Aside from business, Bailey also works closely with charities where he supports everything from young athletes to cancer research.
