Just for curiosity's sake, it would be fun to see where most of Canadianation's visitors are coming from. So wave your provincial flags and proudly indicate from what part of the country you live. If you do not live in Canada, please select one of the last two options.

Rivalries in hockey can get pretty heated and sometimes escalate into some ugly battles. The same can be said of the fans who support those teams. So here now, from the safety of your own home or cubicle, you can indicate who you cheer for without fear of backlash.

Any living Hamilton fans left out there from the 1920-25 team? Probably not, eh? I think, just like the team, they became extinct long ago. It's sad really. I wish Jim Balsillie would have been successful in returning a team to the Hammer.

Recently, Canadian Senator Nicole Eaton has lobbied to have the polar bear replace the beaver as Canada's official animal mascot. She has been quoted as describing the beaver as a "dentally defective rat." On the other side of the coin, she goes on to say that the polar bear has "strength, courage, resourcefulness and dignity."

This debate is sure to "polarize" Canadian citizens. Generations have grown up with the buck-toothed rodent as their official mascot. On the other side of the coin, some would prefer a more majestic animal to represent Canada, and the polar bear fits that description.

How do you feel about it?

Canada's answer to the NFL is the Canadian Football League, otherwise known as the CFL. Aside from some of the rules and field size being different, it's basically the same game played in the United States.

There is one other difference that gives the CFL a quirky distinction over its American counterpart. Out of the two leagues, the CFL was the only one to have two teams simultaneously with the same nickname . Those two teams were the Ottawa Rough Riders and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

While I myself don't follow football, there is a throng of loyal Canadian fans who fervently follow the CFL with dedicated passion. You need only to watch a couple of games on TV to realize this. True CFL fanatics are often seen shirtless and have their bodies and faces painted in team colours to show their support. Think David Puddy from Seinfeld when he would attend New Jersey Devils games. Different sport but you get the idea. This is sometimes done in freezing temperatures. Call it dedication or call it crazy, just don't call them for supper when the ball is on the one yard line.
