Cancer is a killer world wide.

It robs husbands of their wifes, mothers of their children, children of their parents and people in general of those they love around them.

Whenever the word cancer is spoken a hush forms. A sudden quiet. A realization that someone's live is about to change, and not in a good way.

Cancer destroys. It not only destroys the body and cells of the one affected, it also destroys the lives it touches.

Medical bills pile up.

Hearts and families get broken...

Cancer.

My husband which is the father of my son and a father of 3 other boys and 1 girl has found out that his cancer has came back. He has had it ever since he was 18 yrs old he is now 29. The 1st time he found out that he had cancer his mother never believed him. After years of waiting it was starting to get to him so he went and got something done after getting on his own. He had cancer all over his neck, back, and shoulder. He was at stage 3 Melanoma Cancer then after they got it all taken out they sent him through radation for a couple of months. He wasn't even in remission for a year. Here recently it came back again its now stage 4 Melanoma Cancer its in between his lungs its to close to his heart to do surgery there is only treatments he can do and that is it. One doctor told us that he would not even have a year left. I was told by his doctor if he stop breating to call 911 asap. So now since i have to be by his side 24/7 and i had a slip stating that... I lost my income with wv works because i had to take care of him and take care of our 8 month son and do full time school. They told me that him having cancer wasn't a good enough excuse that they was gonna take my benifets because i told them that it was just about impossible. Now we are struggling with bills my husband only gets 674.00/month from disabilty and that isnt enough to pay our bills our morgage is 300.00 a month. Here last week they turned off our water and we had to scratch for money to get it turned back on. Now they are about ready to turn off our phone and maybe eletric. But one way god will get us through it! God bless you!

    Felicia,
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. My heart truly goes out to anyone who is dealing with cancer and it's affects. I wish you nothing but the best, and hope things turn around for you. Blessings to you and your husband.

Imagine If You Will

Imagine waking up one morning. Knowing things just aren't okay. Hundreds of tests have been done. Countless specialists, doctors, therapists and everything else you can imagine. And the results keep coming back unknown.

Now imagine waking up one day to have the doctor phone you. To have a doctor say, we need to see you right away.

Now imagine the doctor breaking the news. Cancer.

Feel your heart sink in a single moment. Feel your breath leave your body. Feel your eyes fill with tears. Feel your legs shake and quiver. And feel life being pulled out from under your feet all in one moment.

You've now gotten a glimpse, and just a glimpse of what it's like.

Let's Continue Down The Road...

Now imagine at home is a child. A child but 5 years old. And imagine having to tell that child, that daddy's got cancer and may not live.

Now imagine the phone calls. The calls to your own children, that you've got cancer.

Now imagine those girls, with sunken hearts and heavy souls having to tell 11 innocent little children, that grandpa is very sick. Very ill.

That's how cancer spreads. Not only does it spread through your body, but it spreads through the lives of those you love. Those you cherish. Those you hold dear. It impacts and destroys their lives and your own in one fell swoop.

Living Life Limited

Did you know the maximum amount for medical e.i in Canada is just over $1800! They expect your family, no matter the size to survive on that income, while you watch someone you love, die.

Now Imagine Losing The Ground Beneath Your Feet

Your world is already crumbling, but cancer's not done yet. It's only just begun.

Imagine losing your primary income! Imagine losing almost 75% of what your household earns.

Imagine the impact that has. Imagine now waiting weeks upon weeks for things like Medical Employment Insurance, calls back from Cancer societies, and doctors. Imagine what is slowly becoming of your life.

Now imagine a young mother, a young child, looking at a future possibly without a husband, without a father... You've now taken a look at the Ward family. And the state of their lives. The state cancer has brought them to.

Cancer doesn't just rob one person. It robs everyone that person's live touches.

This Is Where You Come In

This lens isn't created by the Ward family.

It's simply created by one of those 4 daughters, for the love of her mother, her step-father, her little brother, and her 5 beautiful children who look at losing their grandfather before they even reach 18 years of age!

I see the impact first-hand. I see the heartache first-hand. And I am reaching out to all of you, to help those I love.

Everything this lens make will be given to the family. It will be given to help pay the rent, pay the bills, pay for treatments not covered, and things they simply need to survive.

I'm not asking for much. Simply a like here, a share there, and spreading the word.

Nothing will return this smile to their faces, but as a world wide family- we can help them best we can in their time of need!

If you can donate via the link below, please do. If you cannot afford even a dollar, please just help get this lens the attention it needs. Get the word out, let's spread this lens, like the virus that caused it's creation.

The family will thank you. I thank you. And karma will too.

How The Donation Link Works

Because Squidoo doesn't allow the cool little widget Chipin gives, you need to select the link above. It will take you to a page that looks like the one to the right of this text.

Select CHIPIN.

You will be then taken to a secure Paypal page. On that page you can decide how much to donate (by filling in the amount in the little box) and can then either pay via Paypal, or through Paypal using a credit card. It's that simple.

(Just a note, the Paypal account will say Sylvia Meier, I am collecting the donations on their behalf)

Best wishes, and thanks for your support,
Sylvia

Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It's about as pleasant as the name sounds, and just as technical.

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is cancer of the lymphoid tissue, which includes the lymph nodes, spleen, and other organs of the immune system.

Basically, it's a cancer, a cancer that can attack and affect pretty much every organ of the body.

As taken from PubMedHealth:

White blood cells called lymphocytes are found in lymph tissues. Most lymphomas start in a type of white blood cells called B lymphocytes, or B cells.

For most patients, the cause of this cancer is unknown. However, lymphomas may develop in people with weakened immune systems. For example, the risk of lymphoma increases after an organ transplant or in people with HIV infection.

There are many different types of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is classified according to how fast the cancer spreads.

The cancer may be low grade (slow growing), intermediate grade, or high grade (fast growing). Burkitt's tumor is an example of a high-grade lymphoma.

The cancer is further sub-classified by how the cells look under the microscope, for example, if there are certain proteins or genetic markers present.

According to the American Cancer Society, a person has a 1 in 50 chance of developing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Most of the time, this cancer affects adults. However, children can get some forms of lymphoma. High-risk groups include those who have received an organ transplant or who have a weakened immune system.

This type of cancer is slightly more common in men than in women.
