Cancer.

Research for a cancer never stops, but maybe its not a cure that can be found but rather a prevention tool.

Ongoing Research.

Although only a film about the cure for cancer, 'The Medicine Man' did bring home the need for more research into cancer; huge efforts have been put into research into this terrible disease and now many more people survive than a few years ago. Think about that for a moment; can you even imagine the impact this would have on our world if the suffering of so many people could be put to an end? The problem is we don't fully understand the causes of cancer although there are many things in our life that can trigger it.

If someone were to ask you what cancer was, would you be able to give them a definition like the one in this article? Firstly, it is a disease that starts as a group of abnormal cells that continue to divide; they cross over to other cells and sites of the body continuing to grow and divide.

A cancerous tumor keeps growing but a benign one is self-limiting and generally won't cause any harm to the body. There are rare occasions when a benign tumor changes to a malignant one. It causes more deaths per population than any other illness and the older you get the more prone you are to contracting the disease; Statistics show that the number of people cancer kills globally each year is about 13 in every one hundred. Most cancers are caused by some form of poison in the cells which creates abnormalities in the genetic makeup of those cells; cigarette smoke is a predisposing factor to a number of cancers.

Just to confuse the issue more, it is possible inherit genes that may be pre-disposed to it as well as faulty genetic DNA replication. It would seem that certain people's genetic makeup makes them less prone to contacting the illness even if they are allowing harmful carcinogens into their bodies.

Owing to this ongoing, worldwide research, we do actually know a considerable amount about cancer even if we are some way from finding a complete and consistent cure. Much of the world's research into diseases is to try and find the reason why some people do not contract certain diseases whilst others do. After all we all want to know more about why we contract cancer and how to avoid it.

The food you eat on a regular basis will have an effect on your health, especially in the future. Some believe it may even be causing a large number of cases in certain groups of people. There are certain foods that are considered risky such as excess salt in the diet, too much saturated fat and overindulgence in dairy foods. In particular, excess calcium is believed to have a direct effect on the incidence of prostrate cancer amongst men around the world.

No-one is immune from cancer. It can affect anyone at some time in a person's life. The problem is that it can also be insidious and a person may have it for some time before it is diagnosed. Cures for many types have advanced in recent years and are more likely to be successful if the cancer is found in its early stages. Although not it is not something anyone wants to be diagnosed with, cancer does not have to mean death these days, with the advances in medical treatment.

More on Cancer

Prevention is the key.

The cure for cancer is still some way off but it is something that science expects to happen possibly within the next few decades; some in authority believe the cure is not that far off and may be found in nature! This disease causes suffering everywhere it is found; it has caused untold deaths throughout history and when the cure is finally discovered it will have a huge impact around the world. The reasons cancer is triggered in the body are only theories as it can be caused by many things.

There are theories that we all have it and it just takes something to start it off, but what is cancer? Well, it is a disease that's characterized by a large number of cancer cells that continue to grow and divide; they invade and destroy adjacent tissues and may even spread to other anatomical sites through a process called metastasis.

The malignant property of cancer differentiates it from benign tumors which limit their growth and do not invade or metastasize. Some benign tumors, however, are capable of becoming malignant. The disease may affect people of all ages and there is an increased risk of suffering from the more common cancers as you get older; Statistics show that the number of people cancer kills globally each year is about 13 in every one hundred. Nearly all cancers are caused by abnormalities in the genetic material of the transformed cells; these abnormalities may be caused by other poisons within the body from smoking, radiation, chemicals or other infectious agents.

The cause can also be the responsibility of faulty DNA replication or a genetic trait inherited from parents which means a person can be born with them. It is still not fully understood why one person will contract the disease and another be free from it but it is believed that the interactions between any carcinogens and each person's particular DNA is complicated.

Owing to this ongoing, worldwide cancer research, we do actually know a considerable amount about cancer even if we are some way from finding a complete and consistent cure. We are always learning more about diseases and how they affect our bodies and minds. We are continually trying to find out why this disease attacks some and not others. Ultimately, even if they don't find the cure for some time, this research may be able to tell us how to avoid contracting cancer in the first place.

One of the major causes surrounds food and dietary habits. Your regular diet could be putting you at long term risk from all kinds of diseases. People are generally eating too much of the wrong things such as an excess salt intake, too much saturated fat and certain dairy produce. Studies have shown that there is a connection between dairy produced calcium and prostrate cancer.

No-one is immune from cancer. It can affect anyone at some time in a person's life. This is an insidious disease that can take a long time to surface but fortunately the number of forms that can be treated is increasing all the time. Although not it is not something anyone wants to be diagnosed with, cancer does not have to mean death these days, with the advances in medical treatment. It might be safe to say that a immediate cure for cancer is some ways off. Yet, there are many other alternatives to a down right cure, such as a prevention. Many are raving about anti-oxidants as the number one prevention tool in the battle on cancer. Much research on super Anti-oxidants such as the Acai Berry have returned admiral results, proving that natural foods high in anti-oxidants is the true prevention tool.

Kelina, this is a good idea for a site. I suffer with sleep apnea and eye floaters, and if I had the time I would probably pick up more traffic blogging on those issues than I would with my theology blogs. I receive quite a few hits with the medically related articles I do post. All the best with the site, and Cancer needs a cure...of course.
