The Art of Cancer Angels

When you coping with cancer you need to get all the strength you can from various sources. One way is help your emotional health is through a cancer angel. I came to the idea to paint cancer angels after someone close to me got cancer. This lens discusses the idea, feedback, and ideas for using cancer angels to help with healing. The non-profit DonnaBellas Angels (www.donnabellasangels.org) was founded from this idea.

DonnaBellas Angels helps provide art prints of cancer angels to the public. The organization believes that the art helps create a positive meditation image directly for the patient or for loved ones supporting the patient. It also helps with the healing following the cancer from coping with loss to the anxiety & worry about relapse.

The Healing Power of Cancer Angels

An oncology nurse familiar both the struggles of patients and caregivers said this about the DonnaBellas Angels art:

I think people can support the cause because the cancer angels provide a way to direct good energy to the patient's soul thus helping them or a family member a way to strengthen their souls to continue the battle.

In 2008, DonnaBellas Angels helped sponsor the Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII - National Panhellenic Women's Sorority) Rocky Mountain Alumnae Chapter team with art when they participated in the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life". The chapter received a banner and dedication cards for their luminarias (used light to the track at night).

We have found many Relay walkers make stops at our tentsite, stopping just to take in the beauty of the different pieces. Then, when they come around the next lap, they've brought someone new with them to see the Angels. We've had many requests for pieces of DonnaBellas Angels artwork. People respond to the message of hope the art provides.

Art of DonnaBellas Angels on CafePress

We have a variety of products available on Cafepress including t-shirts, posters, framed prints, and greeting cards. Depending on the patient's chemotherapy treatment, the patient may not be able to receive flowers due the patient's decreased immune system from treatment. A framed print for a patient is a great way to add color and send love.
