Cancer Counselling & Support, Banbury

Counselling for cancer and carer support are an integral part of the services available at The Paloma Centre. Cancer has a way of affecting our attitude towards life almost like no other condition. Cancer, the word itself, generates negative emotions even in those who do not yet suffer from it. It is this negative effect on our emotional wellbeing that can limit our ability to respond positively to overcoming the condition itself. This psychosomatic effect can influence the degree to which we are able to respond to it, live with it or get the most out of life during its course. Counselling is one method of support that both the individual and their family can use to ease the stress of dealing with the condition

The aim of The Paloma Centre in Banbury is to help clients find their own way of living their life in a more complete, satisfying and resourceful manner. A positive mental attitude in the face of adverstity can contribute to the quality of life both of the sufferer and their family support group.

While the physical changes to the body inherent in the process of cancer developing are a matter for the medical profession, their life limiting affects may, in some cases, be alleviated in the context of improving the attitude and emotional wellbeing, and therefore the quality of life, of the individual.

The emotional wellbeing of the individual's family support group may also benefit from the use of therapy in easing their understandable feelings of frustration, anger, guilt and grief. Supporting a loved one suffering from a condition such as cancer is often stressful and can even be overwhelming but much can be done to alleviate this stress on the family support group with appropriate therapy and counselling.

The Paloma Centre in Banbury is a personal growth and therapy centre which provides an holistic approach to emotional healing and personal development.

We lost my Dad more than 2 decades ago from malignant melanoma and I can certainly see how he and the whole family could have benefited from counseling and support through that time.
