My Story in 15 lines or less

Everybody has a story, I am no different, so in 15 lines I am going to sum up my story so you know a bit about me. Australian girl, raised in country South Australia, went to a public school for my education from day one to graduation, was National champion in Archer for my division for 4 years straight, went to Mexico on Rotary Youth Exchange in 2002, Studied Chemical Engineering at university because fluidized sand was cool, thats the science nerd in me. Took a with an Oil and Gas Service company working internationally and my first posting was India, lasted there 18 months, came back to Perth, Australia with the same company for another 14 months. Trained to be a NLP practitioner and Success coach earlier this year, and decided on a bit of a whim to go to Europe and travel for 3 months. I'm still looking at where to next, but like the Irish proverb, the road will rise to meet me. That's my life in a nutshell.

The words that influenced my journey

Everybody has defining events, or quotes or maybe just a page in a book you read in 10th grade which shape the fabric of your life. These helped shape your thinking, the reason why you do what you do and how you behavior how you behave. I'd like to share with you the 'principles or quotes' which I live my life by.

"Everybody dies, but not everybody truly lives" William Wallace in Braveheart... This simple line in the movie has had a profound effect on my life, time will pass, death will come but its our decision what with do with the in between, some say I live too much, but I plan to turn around as an old lady and tell my grandkids, I did everything I wanted to do and there is nothing I regret

"Remember, Nerds drive Porsches" 9th Grade Math Teacher... Australia is no exception for bringing down nerds, or people who just didn't fit the model of what was cool, I can't say I had the pleasure of having my head dunked down a toilet, but I always remember this comment made by my math teacher, because I have used it many times to find the inspiration to keep going when those around me tell me it can't be done

"It's not that the bird shits on your shoulder, its what you do next that makes the difference" My Grandad... I just love this line because no matter what situation I find myself in, I know that there is always a moment after it that I am going to be able to look back and laugh about it.

"The journey doesn't end at the peak of the mountain, it ends when you are safely in the car on the way to celebrate the climb" Matt Brauning... Matt reminds me constantly that maybe the top of the mountain wasn't the goal, it was celebrating what you've achieved along the way that allows you to find your satisfaction.

"God deals you the cards, its your decision to play or not"... I unfortunately don't remember who first told me this, however I must thank them, everyday we are presented with opportunities whether we believe them to be fate, an act of god or just coincidence, I believe I create my reality by the decisions I make, so far this has held true in my life, everything I've done and experienced has been me playing the game of life, have I made some mistakes, some will tell you a resounding yes, and I will correct them and say there is no failure only feedback. I have learnt so much because I participate in the game, so I really do thank whoever told me this quote, because it has shaped my life for the best

What I'm all about and Why I'm here

Let's see, what makes me tick? Well there are a few things I can't stand, one of them is boredom, at an early age I learnt to associate the words "I'm Bored" to being handed a broom and told to sweep the back verandah, so as a consequence, I have always been looking for new things to do. You can see this in the two blogs I am currently working on, one on my impressions of the world through a camera lens because I've always loved photography and the second on helping people lead more resourceful, happier lives. You can have a look at the blogs a bit later.

So what am I all about and why am I here?..... well lets answer the second question first. Besides obvious reasons and I will spare you the details about the mommy and daddy fall in love story, I am here because I carry a self belief that I am here to provide inspiration and help strengthen the lives of the people I touch around me. Whether I complete that mission over a coffee at my favorite coffee shop in Adelaide, or by meeting a friend after flying half way around the world for a business meeting and they happen to be in the same place at the same time, or maybe just through sharing my story here. I believe I will always be where I need to be with the people who need me to be there.

So to answer now question one... what am I all about? Someone once described me as the girl who could have a party in a phone box, why? Because I am always happy, always willing to try new things (even if they scare me to death), always willing to tell a bad joke to ease the tension in a serious situation. It was only about 2 years ago I started to take everything seriously, and well, it turns out I completely suck at that, so I've stopped doing it. Don't get me wrong, I can do serious when I need to, but it just doesn't suit me to be serious all the time.

So back to the question.. what am I all about.. well, I believe life should be simple, we should appreciate the small things and the beauty we have around us, (probably the reason I love photography), I believe you can dislike a behavior but not the person. I believe laughter is truly the world's best medicine, that we should enjoy our lives, and take a moment out of each and everyday to stop and smell the roses, watch our children grow up, a puppy chase a bee in the garden, or just watch a sunset in the arms of our loved ones. I'm about making life simple, memorable and beautiful, through friends, family and occasions spent with them.

Mystery of the Great Wall

The gooey in between stuff.

So now you have, how I live my life, My life story in 15 lines or less, and the words that influence me, you might be wondering what else is there to know? Well.... how about likes and dislikes and then we are done.

Things I love
Photography, because its easier to understand than art and I'll had a camera in my hand since I was 3 years old.
Traveling, I think I may have been a gypsy in another life, I love traveling whether that's in Australia or overseas, I just love going and meeting new people and seeing new places.
Diving, the silence under the sea is amazing
Music, who doesn't like music in one form or another.
Multicultural food - but my two favorites are Mexican and Lebanese
The beach - I'm Australian, would you expect me to say anything different.
Animals, born and raised farm girl, besides snakes, just because ours are very poisonous, I like animals
Wide open spaces in general its a country girl thing
Open road driving (one, two hour drives, crank up the music, sing at the top of my lungs!)
Last but not least.... fast cars

Things I not such a fan of
The cold - Anything below 7 degrees is cold, but that's because I'm Australian it doesn't get below 7 degrees where I'm from
Wearing gray clothes in Winter - The weather is depressing enough, don't add to it people
People who tailgate do you honestly think you are going to get somewhere quicker?
People who get up in the airplane just as its landed, take their stuff out of the overhead locker and stand in the lane and get frustrated so they can get out faster than someone else. I just don't get it you've just sat on a plane for 3 hours what is 3 minutes really going to do?
The sound of ticking clocks, I know time is passing I don't need to hear the tick tick tick to remind me.
