Candida Albicans And The Common Causes Of Overgrowth
Yeast Infection Coming And Going? Get Rid Of It For Good!
Stress is one of the most common factors that can affect our body and make us prone to yeast infections. It affects us not only mentally but physically as well. Anytime we deal with stress it alters our body chemistry and breaks down our immune system.
Sugar is another common one because it actually feeds Candida Albicans; meaning that when you eat a high sugar diet, you are actually helping the yeast to grow.
Antibiotics are a confusing one because they are known for their ability to kill bacteria and are used to fight infection; however what many don't know is that it cannot kill yeast. When you are on antibiotics you are extremely prone to yeast infections because the antibiotics actually alter your chemistry and kill your good or "helper" bacteria that actually helps you fight yeast.
Another thing that is tricky about antibiotics is the fact that we are exposed to them even when we are not actually taking them. You can be ingesting antibiotics when you eat meat or dairy products because farm animals are often given antibiotics regularly to treat infection and stimulate growth. Many are also under the false assumption that cooking or pasteurization can kill the antibiotics in our food, but that is not the case. This constant exposure to antibiotics leaves us more susceptible to yeast infections.
There are other factors that can lower immunity and make you more susceptible to infection, including:
- Birth Control Pills
- Drug, alcohol or steroid abuse
- HIV
- Chemotherapy
- Diabetes
- Surgery
- Trauma
Anything that breaks down our skins defenses can put you at increased risk for yeast infections. Some of the things that do this are:
- Excessive heat or moisture in the genital area
- Moisture in skin folds
- Some soaps or soap products (bubble bath, shower gels, etc.)
- Wearing a damp bathing suit
- Not drying properly after a bathing
