Candy Cane Cheesecake is a dessert consisting of a filling made of soft, cream cheese on a base made from graham cracker crumbs. It is also very high in fat, with a creamy texture which can only be created through a high fat content. Cheesecake is one of those desserts that so many people love, but hate to make themselves. Candy Cane Cheesecake is always elegant, yet deceptively easy to make. Try topping this cheesecake with whipped cream before sprinkling with crushed candy canes, or drizzle with melted chocolate. Recipes are designed to be adaptable to what you like.

Candy Cane Cheesecake Recipe

Ingredients


1 1/3 cups chocolate graham cracker crumbs
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon flour
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
3 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese, at room temperature
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
2/3 cup crushed peppermint candies


Directions


Preheat oven to 325°F. Combine first 3 ingredients and press into bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.

In mixing bowl of electric mixer, blend sour cream, sugar, eggs (adding one at a time), flour and both extracts until smooth. Add cream cheese and 2 tablespoons butter or margarine. Stir in crushed candies. Pour into crust and bake on lowest rack of oven for 50-60 minutes or until firm.

Allow to cool (top may crack) and refrigerate overnight. Remove from pan and serve. Top with sweetened whip cream and garnish with candy cane, if desired.
