The Canon 12x36 IS binoculars use a feature called image stability to help stop any natural movement.With the image stability turned on, you can view things with such clarity that you would think you where setup on a tripod.
The image stability is powered by 2 AA alkaline batteries and uses a power saving feature so you can get about 4 hours more of pure viewing with the image stability on then you could on the prior version.

The Canon 12x36 binoculars also are water resistant, however they are not water proof so you can view with them in the rain without worrying about the lenses fogging up or damaging the binoculars, but if you immerse them in water, they are finished.
