I have always been pictures fiend, getting my digicam everywhere and yanking it out at any possibility. While I'd gotten to a good stage of preserving essential times with my point-and-shoot cameras over the decades, I desired to take my pictures to the next stage. I was influenced by my brother-in-law's photographs of his children to take the dSLR drop. But I realized (and still know), very little about expert pictures. I desired to begin better photographs right away. But I also desired to have space to develop as an experienced wedding photographer and a digicam that would develop with me.I also desired the concentrate to remain strongly on my loved ones - while I was willing to take a little while and care into the digicam, I didn't want it to become like a pet I had to regularly have a look at out over. While any dSLR requires some care and factor, I've discovered the T3i has been an outstanding digicam for me and I've been quite happy with it.
PROS:
* VERY USER FRIENDLY: The automated method (or automated without screen, my favorite) is flexible, getting extremely razor-sharp pictures, actual to coloring. They look so clear that I experience I'm taking as near to actual life as I've ever seen before in a digicam.
* FAST: While I sometimes go in for trying out new methods and guide configurations, I often depart the digicam in automated or auto-sans-flash method and just press away so that I can at least take a second before it's gone. I then engage in with guide configurations if my children remain still extensive enough for me to try something new. My past cameras always had a terrible wait for the auto-focus (the only method they usually had), indicating I nearly always missing when when the child was on the switch. The t3i is so extremely quick that I can take several photographs at some factor one photo took before.
* BEAUTIFUL PICTURES: This type of goes without saying at this rate of digicam, but the pictures are just awesome fantastic. Returning from the area of point-and-shoot, I'm fairly offered away. And I know I'm only holding the tip of the iceberg for what's possible.
* BEAUTIFUL VIDEO: This is the awesome new function of the t3i. I wasn't sure I'd want or need the HD movie. But hey, when you've got it, you use it. I've gotten some surprisingly clear video of the kiddo enjoying in the playground with father and I'm so happy we went for the design with that function.
* BIG, CLEAR DISPLAY: It's really simple to see what photographs you've just taken and adapt your photo-taking accordingly. Just by seeing what I've gotten, I'm able to try again and develop a photo almost instantly.
* CLEAR MENUS/ABILITY TO IMPROVE: The user interface on this is so user-friendly that I've been able to master a lot without even opening the guide (though that guide is my new examining material). The admittance way for a new user is just a phase up from typical pictures - the opportunities, however, are nearly countless.
* NICE KIT LENS: For all that expert photographers get into new and better contacts, the kit contact on this is really awesome and simple to use. I think it will carry us for a fantastic extensive while before I get to be more of an expert. It gives me the variety of switch and concentrate I need for now.
* EYE-FI COMPATIBLE: WOW. I cannot even tell you how much this quick paced mom really likes this function. If you get an eye-fi card, your pictures can be set up to instantly publish to your pc whenever you are within variety of your synched wifi system. My man set up a SmugMug profile and the eye-fi abilities. I take photographs to my heart's articles while out on strolls, in the playground, etc., and come house, then depart the digicam on (auto-shut off after 8 minutes) to publish the photographs. I can then tag and type pictures later at my pleasurable. For a quick paced mom, this is surprisingly useful. I don't have to take some time out to publish the photographs - the digicam does that for me.
* BATTERY LIFE (for typical use): So far, it we purchased for the digicam persists very well during typical photo-taking. It's just a normal Sister battery for the digital rebel range and it expenses easily. Even when taking like a mad-woman, it persists through a photograph. HD movie requires it up more easily, so be advised. Still, I seldom run out of juice during the day providing I pop it into its battery charger at night. However, posting is another tale (See below in cons).
Those are just the first few elements I really like about this digicam. Here, however, are the...not negatives, really, just difficulties for a quick paced mom:
CHALLENGES:
* dSLRs ARE EXPENSIVE, DELICATE, BIG AND BULKY:
And quick paced parents' life have enough special and delicate elements to fear about - namely, the children. No getting around it - you can't just throw a dSLR into a wallet and go. I'm in a pursuit for a fantastic bag/carrying option (heh, really, wish me success with that.) and I'm trying to get used to having one aspect of my mind maintaining an eye on the digicam as well as maintaining a lot of my concentrate on the children. When I'm in photo-journalist method, it's no issue, but transferring rear to mom-mode is the challenging aspect. I've already seen the digicam broken onto the earth (a very shorter range onto very smooth floor, so it was okay, but still, the practical knowledge essentially offered me a center attack) and once, when folding over, I discovered the child on the brow with the kit contact (She sobbed. I sensed so awful!) This element needs continuous knowledge to both the digicam AND the children when using it. I'm easily modifying, but if you're not completely dedicated to discovering to use and really like the dSLR, you may want to follow really fantastic point-and-shoot digicam if you're a quick paced parent or guardian.
^ That's really the big one.
* BATTERY LIFE (when posting photographs via eye-fi): Uploading pictures by eye-fi seems to eat it in existence. This indicates that the digicam won't autoshutoff when posting, so today, after a few a long time of posting big, wonderful pictures to my SmugMug profile, it lastly ran out of juice. I wish there was a plug-in method or some type of docking-station I could connect the digicam into when I go rear house. If it's only a few photographs, they publish and the digicam ends itself off. But if it's a lot of photographs (and when the weather's awesome and the lighting's fantastic, I take a lot of pics), the digicam needs an assortment charge just to complete posting my pictures.
* SWIVEL SCREEN WORRIES: I discover that the swivel screen, while greatly useful, is something I regularly fear that I'm going to take off. However, you can keep it shut with the screen experiencing in(a awesome feature) or place it onto the digicam with the screen experiencing out. I also discover if I'm looking out of the eye-piece, I depart oral cavity streaks all over the screen when its experiencing out.
* MANUAL-MODE GOOFS: Some of my guide method forays have been less than outstanding. I've taken a photo - set up so awesome, concentrate just ideal, topic just so... only to discover out I eventually left it in white-balance modification for inside and I was exterior so the whole photo looks like I dropped it in pink. I've acquired to take photographs in auto-mode first before testing too much. I also acquired to have a look at the screen a LOT before continuing.
SUMMARY: While the dSLR has necessary me to create some improvements for such as it in my quick paced life, I really really like this digicam, am happy with it decision, am influenced by its convenience of use, and I LOVE the pictures I've gotten of my loved ones.
5 STARS: And so I provide 5 celebrities - my whole factor in purchasing a awesome digicam was to create and retain FAMILY reminiscences - and the t3i information those reminiscences magnificently - in .jpg, raw, or HD movie - with at least dSLR hassle.
*** UPDATE: about 6 several weeks later ***
STILL AWESOME: I completely take a position by the above evaluation. If anything, I've come to really like this digicam even more than I did when we first got it. When infant #2 came, the fantastic of pictures that we got far overtook the pictures from the first child's image limbs. I'm truly happy with this financial commitment, as the pictures we get are eye-catching, clear, true-to-light/true-to-color, and just take the reminiscences so well. Really, this is EXACTLY what I was expecting for as an beginner photographer/mom.
GOT BETTER:
Battery Woes: We put in in an A/C adaptor for the digicam and now not eat it in existence when making the digicam to publish pictures via the Eye-Fi system. It's a little frustrating to have to exchange over to the A/C and then rear to an assortment all-time - I would rather have a receiving place of types - but it operates and this implies I put it in the battery charger so it's almost always prepared to go.
Ease of Use: I altered to using this element fairly easily. I put in in a LowePro FastPack 250 and it operates very well as a diaper-bag/day bag/camera bag. Not the most eye-catching bag, but it operates well. I'm much better at being prepared for any image scenario now.
Swivel Screen: No issues to evaluation. I just depart it screen out all-time.
SAME: Awesome digicam all around. Truly, truly amazing. There might be greater levels of fantastic out there, but for what I use in following the children around, this information awesome injections easily. Like it.
GOT (just a little) WORSE:
Eye-Fi Annoyance: This is going to modify from individual to individual, but our Eye-Fi products has had some kinks to function out. The card we purchased necessary several improvements lately, then we had to modify SmugMug profile products, but the improved code recommended Eye-Fi couldn't publish. Blah, blah, blah, I'm sure most of the issue is ME not getting the changes my man created. Still, E
