The Canon PowerShot SD780is
I found the best buy and saved $59.00 on the Canon Powershot SD780IS at Amazon. After reading several reviews I purchased this camera in April of 2010 and now 10 months later I am happy to say I have not had any problems with it so far.
I carry this camera with me everywhere I go because its so small I can just drop it in my shirt pocket. I am always taking pictures and video of my daughter with it. The photos and the video on this little camera are absolutely amazing. I like it because I can just plug it into my computer or my HDTV from the built in HDMI jack and view the pictures and video directly from the camera.
This camera is also available in these colors: Black, Red, Gold, and, Silver"

"The best camera is the one you have with you"
Having been involved with photography since I was 10 years old back in the 1950's, I have used every type of compact camera - Nikons, Olympus OM SLR's, Leica CL, Minox, the famous 70's Japanese point-shoot such as Konica, always seeking the maximum photographic flexibility in the minimum package. Playing with the incredibly small Canon Powershot SD780is for a few days, it's a good time to take a step back and recognize the amazing technology which has come to us through the digital revolution. There is simply no comparison to the photographic capability which one can now carry hardly noticed in a shirt pocket, including taking high definition VIDEOS!
Bottom line; The best camera is obviously the one you have with you. So get one of these - no excuse ever to be without it.

"Excellent Camera For Its Size"
I bought this Canon sd780is mainly due to its size and ability to shoot High Definition video. I upgraded from a Sony DSC-P8, which took pretty good daytime pictures but horrible low light shots and the shutter lag was ridiculously long. Also, I couldn't fit the camera in my pocket because it was so thick. This camera is an improvement in all of those categories.
The pictures still have a little bit of noise to them if you zoom in on your PC, but no where near the shots I took with my Sony. However, even though the noise is much improved, the sharpness of the pictures suffer a slight bit. The older Sony was better in this department. Overall, the low light shots taken with the Canon sd780is look much better than the Sony. I have no complaints with the daytime shots.
Overall, I am very pleased with the camera. I never expected it to be perfect since its a rather inexpensive and compact point & shoot camera, but it exceeded the expectations that I did have and serves its purpose well.

The HD video capability is awesome and comparible with the SD960. It has a HDMI jack. The traditional 4:3 screen does not bother me, because the video is ultimately going to be viewed on a HD TV.(There will be an upper and lower bar on 16:9 playback through the SD780's LCD).

- I've heard great things about the Canon SD780is. The video here certainly is impressive. Gotta love it when a great little camera is also affordable!
