Why I love The Canon Powershot SD 1200 point and shoot compact digital camera
It's time to buy a new compact camera ready for summer days and vacations. The Canon Powershot SD 1200 has helped me to great pictures, even though I'm a camera simpleton. This Canon review will tell you why I love my Canon Powershot 1200 ( previously known as the Powershot digital Elph)
This digital camera is small, compact, and very pretty. The Canon Powershot comes in a choice of colors. I found I learnt very quickly how to use my Canon camera.
This wonderful little Canon camera would make an ideal gift.
The Canon Power Shot SD 1200 has all the facilties to set up photographs for those who like to chose their own shutter speeds, settings and so on. For amateurs like me, the options that allow you to chose presets are wonderful, allowing you to take great pictures with very little photographic know how. There are options such as "sunset" or "snow" to chose from.
If you don't want to make any decision yourself you can just use the Canon intelligent "Auto" setting for general photography.
The Canon powershot only weights 0.25 pounds. It's a small, neat digital camera.

Here is an example of a picture I've taken using my Canon Powershot ( or Canon Ixus as it is called in Europe) Here I am using the "kids and animals" preset to capture the rapid movements of the humming bird.

This compact digital camera looks good, as well as being the best digital camera I've used. If you want a good looking camera, a small camera, but one of the best digital cameras in the lower price bracket, I really recommend the canon SD1200. An excellent point and shoot digital camera.

Well this Canon camera ( known as an "IXY" in Japan) has all the features you want in a compact digital camera, PLUS you can chose your favorite color.
As well as the intelligent Auto setting and the great choice of presets, the Canon Powershot 1200 has other features which I love.
Its 10.0-megapixel resolution captures enough detail for prints up to 13 x 19 inches .
It has 3x optical zoom, and a very clear 2.5-inch PureColor LCD II screen .
You can make little videos ( great for You Tube!)
It is small- only 3.5 x 0.9 x 2.2 inches, weighing 4.2 ounces- so easy to carry around. yet the buttons are a good size and easy to use.
It also has an anti shake feature that seems to deal with little wobbles when taking pictures ( you can tell I'm no expert!)
Here's a picture I took of Rydal Water on "Auto" in the fall - you can see how the Canon digital camera adjusts to the change in light, all by itself.Compare it to the Winter picture of the same view below- 2 different days, 2 good photos, with the Canon digital doing all the work for you.

You will need a memory card for your Canon Camera
Your Canon Powershot camera will need a memory card.
The old Canon Elph, or Ixus version of the PowerShot came with a tiny memory card, that was only big enough to hold about 2 photos. Obviously you needed to buy more memory, but you could at least take a couple of practice shots.
Canon have stopped putting any memory card in at all with their Powershot.. I have a 4 GB memory card , and have never run our of memory, but as the cards are now so inexpensive, you might like to go for an even larger card, such as the 16 GB suggested.
WARNING! You will need to buy a memory card when you buy your Canon Powershot 1200. Why not buy it at the same time from Amazon- their prices are terrific value.
You don't need to buy a battery or a battery charger- these came with the digital camera, and work well in my experience.Some people however do like to have 2 batteries, so they always have a fresh one ready charged if needed.

- Put the camera in playback.viewing mode ( the arrow at the top), then look down to the circle below the func set button. There is a trash can image. press that , it ask if you want to erase. Press func set if you do.
You can also do it via the menu .

- I have one of these cameras and I love it! I usually use a SLR camera but have found this to be a wonderful alternative. It is lightweight, easy to use and takes wonderful pics!
