Glad I Waited
Since getting my G11 I am very very pleased with all aspects and functions of this camera. Especially the combination of still having a viewfinder plus the swivel LCD screen. If you wear glasses and have a hard time viewing a fixed LCD screen you will love the swivel feature. I wouldn't buy a camera without a viewfinder but using the swivel LCD is making me a convert to using the LCD more and more.

This camera isn't a DSLR but it takes beyond excellent photographs, in all modes, from full Auto to Manual and Macro. Even though I don't use them much the Scene mode produces excellent results. The button layout and ergonomics of the camera are excellent. The function and ease of the buttons, menus and operation of the camera in all modes is by far one of the best feature of the camera, it is a dream to operate even in full Manual mode. The onboard flash operates fine with easy adjustable output but having a hot shoe to use an external flash is a big plus.. I put my 580 EX II flash on the hot shoe to try it and it makes the flash output and adjustments just about perfect. The menu layout and customization is excellent. The manual is well detailed and thorough.

So far I love this camera!! In auto the pictures are gorgeous. It also has a lot of scenes and cool features to choose from. The macro setting is also amazing. It is extremely easy to use in manual mode, a big change from my old camera!! I know it will help me improve my photography techniques and give my flexibility I did not think was possible with a point and shoot! I'm glad I didn't have to get a big heavy bulky DSLR - this camera is heavy but fits easily in my purse and doesn't require a zillion accessories for normal use.

The bottom line is that Canon has taken the G-10, which was easily one of the best point and shoots on the market, and made some outstanding improvements that have taken this camera line to a whole new level. If your one of those people who care more about how many MPs your camera has than the actual image quality of the camera then you should stick with the G-10. If however you are more concerned with image quality than MP's then drop what your doing, list your G-10 on eBay and run out and buy the G-11. The image quality, improved noise performance, and swivel back LCD screen make this camera absolutely worth every penny.
